Just the standard photos app ... mainly just the inbuilt filters, the auto improve wand
... I had good light though!

Yes but switch side switch to silent then no noise on taking photo
This camera is just crazy good. All these photos came out with no real effort.

The way this phone can make an okay picture look better is quite nice. I’m thoroughly impressed this far. I wish there was less smoothing on the front camera, but that’s fixable with a patch.

I’m having issues with my camera at night as can be seen in this image.
The light from the cross and wall lights seems to replicate in a mirror image and sits on top on the photo.
I’m no expert but this doesn’t seem right and has really limited the shots I can take.
Can anyone explain what is happening here?

We were discussing about this with virginblue4 a few posts up.
If this flare is too much, imho it is, and many users are affected it may be a design flaw.
I've been doing some more testing with the cameras, especially for video. The mics are surprisingly good! Others whom I have send some examples to noticed so too, saying it's much clearer. Also noticed of course what a good job Smart HDR is doing. It was the most noticeable when shooting a video using the FaceTime camera. I could instantly see the difference as I compared it directly with my iPhone X. On the latter the background at some point was overblown, whereas the iPhone XS did a much better job at capturing that background. Same goes for the back camera of course, although there where some moments where it would still overblown the background a bit. But overall capturing video has been improved bigly!
As for photography, I've made some other shots during sunset last Saturday evening. I just HAD to capture that moment. I wish I've brought my X with me, so I could compare. I do know that it is a definite improvement over the latter.
Will be doing some more shots the upcoming days! And by the way, I am by no means a professional photographer, but over the years I've increasingly become more interested in making photos as the camera of the iPhone has been improved so much. Despite my lack in photography skills I often hear from people how great my pictures look, thanks to how iOS handles everything. 'It just works'.
