I'm hacking my iPod Touch as we speak as per these instructions:

    http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_Guide#Jailbreak_iPod

How'd it go so far for you guys, the ones who have tried it out?

As for me, I'll be posting my progress. I'm not a hacker, although I'd say I'm quite proficient when it comes to computers if you compare me to the average user (but really, that's not saying a lot at all).

What I meant by saying that I'm not a hacker is that, since I'm more of a "commoner" I'll really be putting the jailbreak method to the test.

Hey, need a little help from fellow itouch users hacking right now. I'm on step 7 on http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_Guide, and I keep getting the error 'getfile: Failed to open remote file:11'. Know what this means? I've done everything right so far...

NEVERMIND! Just had to restart terminal with my itouch plugged in, everything is going smooth now :D

I really want to go on and do this with my iPod touch but want to know the method of restoring back to the original state afterwards in case I want to revert back for whatever reason. Plus in the meantime hopefully any kinks will get worked out and the process will be pretty smooth-going for me, if not a more automated way of doing it

OK, I sorta got passed my last SSH error. Instead of getting "connection refused", it's now timing out.

    Woot! Well done!

Not picking on you, i swear, but it's funny how ipod/iphone hack pics are like ufo pics - always blurry. Maybe cameras know when theyre capturing something controversial! ;):D

Yeah it worked. I screwed up during the independence part so I restored but it worked right off.

Yes that's normal assuming they are connected to the same wireless router and the router is sharing a single IP address
