any ideas?

Hi,
I have a small problem with the MobileMail.app:
I have two MobileMail.app, one from this iPhoneApps.zip von RP-Share and one of the decrypted Firmware waiting for us at the torrent trackers.
Booth files are not working, and yes, I copied the preference bundle into the right directory.
It just opens and closes one second later.

Anyone an idea?

Greetings from Germany!

Instructions for Installing iPhone Applications

* Copy applications using SFTP to /Applications/
* Copy any other required files (listed below) to the proper location on the iPod
* Run the following command via SSH
chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

* Restart iPod

Taken directly from the Jailbreak Guide. Try that and it should work if you haven't done it. My stock app was doing the same thing until I did that. command.

Problems with mail

Hello, Mostly good news! All went well...Not a brick in sight! All working including the fab NES emulator! Mariopod!

BUT I am also having issues with MAIL....

I've followed these instructions...

• Copied MAIL application using SFTP to /Applications/
• Copied MobileMailSettings.bundle to system/library/preferencebundles)

• Ran the following command via SSH
chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

Rebooted ipod....NO MAIL ICON??

Anyone have any idea of what may be causing the problem?
Thanks!

Is there any way to re-arrange the icons on the 'springboard' with installer.app on the iPod touch?

THANK YOU! That is exactly what I was looking for. You are a lifesaver. Kept trying to find the files (for mail/maps) on google but couldn't find anything. Thanks again.

No problems :). Just thought I'd post that, because I got confused no-end whilst trying to find out where everything was, so I figured others probably would too.

Weird thing happened to me last night, I made a calendar event on the iPod touch, then synced it with iCal, then deleted it in iCal and resynced, just to test that everything worked, and now I seem to have lost the ability to add events on the touch :( The little + button has disappeared, so maybe it's reverted to the touch version of Calendar somehow. I'll try overwriting it again and see how I go.

All my touch apps freeze at when I launch them...any help?

Installer launched fine. I even installed ApolloIM and that launched fine.

That's weird. Which site did you copy the .app's from? Did you copy them into the same folder as they came from in the firmware? My Notes and Weather apps worked right off the bat, so unless you stuffed something up along the way...

I had to active 2 chmods
chmod -Rf +x /Applications/
chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

DO them in that order and they all work.

I followed the "practically fully automated" method and everything has gone well. Then used WinScp to place the iPhone apps and system folders in the proper location. When I launch any of the iPhone apps it freezes and goes back to the springboard.
I tried the above commands in Putty and I get "chmod: not found" after the first one and "glob6: not found" after the second.
So Close!!! Any ideas?
touchdev.net is down

That's good

You must not have put them in the correct places then. Either that or you stuffed up the jailbreak somewhere along the line. Does installer.app run fine. What happens if you try and run one of the apps it installs? I've got no idea about WinScp, so I can't help you there :(

Weird... sorry, I can't really help, I used my mac to complete the process.

Thanks for responding Dave!! I found another poor sap with my problem and db2431 had solved it. Thanks db2431!!!!

Yes, run this instead

/bin/chmod -Rf +x /Applications/

I would have used my mac but I have a PPC.

No probs, glad you got it sorted out.

Ah, ok, slightly different to the mac version. I've got to run
chmod -R a+x /Applications/* through SSH in terminal whenever I make changes. Can't really understand why they didn't make all this stuff universal, but anyways, at least you've got it sorted now.
