Are you seriously arguing against options?

Exactly. The more this thing can do the greater it's percieved value is to a larger audience.

What kind of value exactly is of course subjective, but why put restrictions on potential at this point in the game.

Stupid question. How much memory will be in the watch to store games. Is this also how it will store music?

Someone probably responded to you already but the answer is yes to music. While the exact number is under wraps, it will likely be around 4gb.

I can't see people using this beyond fitness tracking--which I certainly understand is a worthwhile function. After the novelty wears off, I'm not sure the Apple Watch will be a big seller.

I feel like there was much more value in an independently functioning iPad compared to an iPhone than between a watch that's dependent upon an iPhone.

I could be very wrong though, and the post I'm writing here could be resurrected in 5 years when everyone on the planet own 5 Apple Watches.

I think we're all surprised at how well Microsoft have come out fighting.

Like one of the live blogs said: for being late to the party, WP10 isn't looking like an also-ran

This just proves to me that the Apple watch is not something I want. Apple had the chance to make an appealing wearable and fitness tracker. Instead it just made a smaller phone for your wrist.

This is just gonna be yet another screen with the same damn apps in smaller size.

I wanted a killer fitness tracker. Slim, unobtrusive and elegant. Instead they made a fat brick of gold with waaaayyy too much abilities

iWatch is such an awful idea. Every new thing I read about it makes it look dorkier and dorkier.

Games on a watch? I'm not sure of their rationale. Do they really expect people to play games on their watch and kill it's less-than-a-day-long battery life?

I'm not sure how much actual battery drain something like this will cause vs. some other type of app like Mail or Messages, given that all apps are going to be largely powered by the iPhone for the express purpose of preserving battery life.

Obviously there are always tradeoffs though, if you know you're out for the day and need to access functions like Messages, you won't play a game, just like you wouldn't on your phone if you needed the battery life for other purposes. It's nice to have the option to pop up a game to play while you're waiting in line at the grocery store or something.

It *is* an appealing wearable and fitness tracker, it just also happens to have additional options for people who want to use it in a different way. You could get one and use it just for time keeping and tracking your steps/heart rate. There are hundreds of possible use cases and I'm personally glad Apple didn't limit what we'll be able to do with it.

I can't wait for the day when they can get the battery life life up to a few weeks and then we can get final cut pro x on that little sucker.

I'm pretty sure Nike hinted that they're working with Apple on a dedicated fitness band. Not sure they'd ditch the Fuelband for what the Apple Watch currently offers.

I have a game on my Sony Smart Watch 3. I don't use it much, but it's not a bad time killer in the right situation. I think lot's of people miscalculate the effect this watch will have. Within 5 years "everyone" will be wearing a smart watch. I depend on mine more by the day.

Somehow I get the feeling if all we got from Apple was a fitness band people would have said 'that's it?'. Anyway 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman was on a podcast recently talking about Watch and I got the impression from him that the heart rate sensor on the watch will be better than what's currently on the market with other devices. Which makes me think Apple is only going to incorporate sensors when they have confidence what they developed will provide a high level of accuracy.

It is NOT an Apple headline, it is a NimbleBit announcement. While I would probably never buy or play a game on my :apple:Watch what is the problem if developers want to make them? Should Apple have a no 3ed party games policy? It is not like it's a 'fart' App quality offering.

Why should have Apple announced any major releases or products or design studies today?

Hey Genius, Apple did not introduce the game.

hehe...

Games on an Apple watch ? Not likely...

Maybe just the fact it's possible.

Multiplayer simple words games are ideal on Apple Watch. Sometimes I make 20 moves in Scrabble per day. Not sure if Scrabble could ever be played on such a small screen but it would save me having to pull out my iPhone 20 times a day.

Exactly. If Apple made any real announcements today they might have been lost in the big MS announcements. Way to go Apple!

Wait, was Apple supposed to be announcing something today? Or are they doomed because it's January 21 and they haven't announced any new products yet?

...but it would save me having to pull out my iPhone 20 times a day.

Not picking on you, but can we all imagine how many times that particular "benefit" is going to be spun in the coming months as part of rationalizing why we all need to line up and buy the watch? The great burden of pulling out the iPhone will be solved by buying the :apple:Watch.

Since that burden is a problem for so many of us every single day, how long until we can get to this...

That way, we won't even have to lift our arms or move our heads. Ahhh, nirvana*!!!

*though that probably works against the whole health-kit thrust

Tethered apps?

"As we've learned from the WatchKit API, the first apps coming out for the Apple Watch will be entirely reliant on the iPhone, powered by the phone itself and projected to the Apple Watch to conserve battery."

Apps reliant on the iPhone? This makes no sense for an app to be tethered to your phone unless its to use the gps or cell data. Why would I want my app projected on my watch from my phone? There will be a noticeable lag even its a 1 second lag! How accurate is this info? Because I don't believe it, doesn't sound like apple standards.
