Wrong. Please read the whole post. I basically said the manager may or may not have a clue on the iMac.

I DID read it but didn't find it relevant to answer. But, here's the answer for your sake.

Apple like other organisations do have 'assistant managers'. Furthermore, managers are not likely to be on vacation for a week at Cupertino. They're probably there for the one day or less for the meeting. More so, I can't see every single Apple store manager being invited to this meeting - theres probably a head of each continent i.e. Europe, Asia etc... who are most probably invited. Again, thats my own thoughts but I can't see every single store manager being invited from across the world. It is possible, but even then they have at least two managers and then the assistant managers.

What I did say is it seems odd that apple would be releasing new products the week that all of their managers and resellers were NOT in the stores. That's three times I've said that now, and yet everyone wants to argue about what the manager may or may not know.

Why would that be odd? It's not like an iPhone launch or anything. It's just an updated computer. 90% of the people going into the Apple Store won't know that the iMac is even different (even if they change the design). What are the sales people and assistant managers not going to be able to answer that the managers would be able to answer? So it really is irrelevant that the store managers won't be there.

It's supposed to be Microsoft's week, with the introduction of Windows 7 and all the brand new hardware from HP, Dell, Acer, Sony, etc.

It would be to Apple's advantage to conquer the news cycle with a one-two punch: first, Monday's earning report; and second, the release of new hardware with better specs and lower prices.

Tech wise, the new B&N E-Reader will dominate Tuesday and Windows 7 on Thursday. That leaves Wednesday as the obvious day for Apple to announce new product (unless they wait until the following week).

I hope you're right!!

There's definitely a bad bug in the forum software. This topic now says there are 76 pages, but refuses to go past page 74 (clicking 75 or 76 simply reloads 74) ... either that or Apple has purposely blocked the next pages because they have correct details of the new machines. ;)

Edit: This message went onto page 75, so it's back to being one page out.

This happens all the time, not sure why.

I've noticed that an additional page does tacked on now and again.

I'm at 47 pages right now. Page 48 just showed up but nothing is there.

The Page numbers come from the total number of posts in the thread, including deleted posts.

Which leads to the question - why are so many posts being deleted?

I've been seeing a number of 'bot' posts, maybe the moderators are busy cleaning up those? I haven't seen an unusual number of posts that are clearly violating forum rules.

Is it just me or are all best buys out of iMacs on shipping and pick up

This has already been discussed. Many retailers such as Amazon, etc, are also getting very low on stock of iMacs which has heightened speculation that new models will arrive soon.

what are the latest news people?

will it be today that we'll know if there will be some hot new stuff, i'm already out of nails, and since i'm at work i do so much refresh on the pages that the pc blocks the apps and....oh wait...it's winfroze..oh ok! lololol

we want iMac! we want iMac! we want iMac! we want iMac!

Getting fed up with the hype to be honest. Think I will just go on and order my MacBook Pro and ignore all this iMac rumours. Got a week off next week and really need it delivered then.

To arrive next week I need to order today, tomorrow the latest. It would be a real shame if they reduced the Macbook Pro prices though

Macbook Pro updates will likely not occur until early next year with Arrandale. I think you will be safe.

That £679 model has a 120GB hard rive :eek::eek:

Yep and a 2.0 processor instead of the £749 2.13 one.

Think the rest of the spec is the same. The weight and height are both a tiny bit lower which made me think it's a newer version.

I'm all for a cheaper price but surely they could have kept the spec the same :(

It doesn't make sense to me though.

I mean, if the white Macbook gets a spec bump it would be very close to the entry MBP.

I don't think macbook will get a spec bump, I expect a slew of cheaper white ones.

The rename made this year leads me to believe that Apple may finally have some lower priced laptops soon. As in under 700

Now if they can get minis out for 399 I would be impressed, hell the things need to be 299

Since this morning, Italy's Apple Store has refurbished iMacs (24") for sale at a 300 euro discount!! I have never seen iMacs here before.

Last year here in Belgium I bought an older (the only difference was 200Mhz, new models only had a minor speedbump) iMac with a 300 euro discount. I payed 860 euro instead of 1099 euro for a 20" iMac, which was a steal.

Mediamarkt also regularly has promotions where they sell "older" Apple HW with a big discount.

DAMN! I would have bought the Macbook Pro 13" along with a Cinema for over a month ago when I had the chance. First I was inside of an iMac but then I decided to MBP and Cinema (the best combo ever!) - and then when the rumors began to fall into the iMac, so I have to cancel my order. Damn, damn. Why did I do that?

Now I've been sitting and waiting for a whole damn month. Apple - doing nothing. You have computers that can not measure up somehow to a sugar price right now. You must do something to continue to live in the market. Totally stupid if you pay the price as the iMac costing right now. There are performances from 2008. GOOD!

I just hope the upcoming launch of the iMac (when it is happening now) is totally bad - without LED, still Penryn and no blue-ray. I just hope Windows with all partners running the Windows 7 this week and breaks all records as Apple has - Or wait - there is no problem for Microsoft because Apple still lives on in the past. I forgot.

Rumors are rumors, everbody knows that. But what if nothing happens. There is little evidence that, but what if nothing would happen until 2010 - HAH. I wonder how many there really are waiting for this update in order to buy soon. I really wonder how many customers Apple is missing out with the given update, not so many, I think. It is only a fraction.

Frankly, I'm starting to get tired. I get so much more money if I buy a PC and now when Windows 7 will come, maybe not the distance is so far away. Maybe it is just a fancy from the Mac side.
