Online iPad 2 Orders Begin to Ship

I don't think that has much to do with Apple.
The decent availability of third-party cases for the iPad 2 at launch is rooted to the fact that case manufacturers now have a decent understanding of the potential demand. When the original iPad came to market, there was no sales history: zero data.
The cover is amazing! It works exactly like the videos online suggest. It's really nice to not worry about pushing the sleep button to shut off the iPad. I still worry about the back becoming scratched because it is unprotected, but the cover does it's job perfectly. Hope this helps!
I thought like other releases, I would just stop by the 5th Avenue Apple Store around 10pm, be in and out. Nope. Apple really bungled this up by not putting a limit on the number of purchases. A ton of people were buying up 10+ iPad2s each, felt more like ticket scalpers at a launch. And judging by the sheer number of iPad2's on eBay, I could see they had the right idea.
Unfortunately, all of the 64GB ATT models were long gone. They had lots of Verizon models but nobody wanted those, including myself. They serve no purpose globally. So I ended up having to place an order online, 3 week wait, oh well.
Going to stop by in the mornings since they should get daily refresh shipments, but not holding my breath. The ATT models are the most popular models. Smaller capacity WIFI or Verizon models are easier to come by.

When iPad came out it was the only tablet. A tablet wrapped in a case is still recognized as an iPad. Now there are many other tablets on the market, apple does not want its product to be hidden in a black rubber case, but rather let all its users freely showcase the beauty of iPad 2.

Thanks, yeah it does. The Belkin cases look like they might be good when they come out, but I'm hoping that the back doesn't get scratched so I can get by with the cover...and I love how thin it is.

My initial order was placed at 1:01 PST with Apple. (16GB Black WiFi)
Ships 3-5 Days. I noticed others on this forum had placed their order after me and the iPad has already shipped. Meanwhile my order sat there like a bump on a log, "NOT YET SHIPPED".
I placed a call to B&H Photo to see if they had one in stock.
Five minutes later my order was complete. I t will be in my hands on Tuesday morning. Paid for overnight and still saved some change.
It's not too late for the rest of you to give it a try.

Having stuff doesn't equate to having money, the average US household has 15k in credit card debt

Call and ask why when you ordered online it stated 3-5 business days yet when the order was placed it went to 3-5 business days and an additional 5 days of delivery. I did and they placed my order on next business day for free!!

I actually luckedmout. While my dad was in line at the walnut creek apple store I went to a local target just to ask if they would be having them in stock. This was the smaller of two in town, so I was expecting a firm "no". Not only were they going to be carrying them, but they were handing out vouchers to pick them up at 5:00. So I grabbed a voucher and went back to work.
Waltzed in at 4:55pm, no line, walked right up to the register and 5minutes later purchased the store's first iPad 2.

The best case I ever found was one eBay, made by Yoobao in China. It was a leather, thin protective cover that would hold the iPad in 5 or 6 positions. Amazon had the same case listed, but listed it as sold by AYL (A Young Life).
I'm hoping this was not a one-off product and they make the same design for the iPad 2. I'm not looking to "say" anything, I'm just looking for a thin, great protective yet functional case.

I spent 4 hours in line and got mine a full two hours after launch; ugh! I felt so behind the times by then! Still, even though it was already a little dated it managed to do all the things I wanted it for.
I got the leather cover and I can't decide how I feel about it yet. Whenever I place it on a dirty or rough surface I have the impulse to flip it over so that the cover is in contact with the surface instead of the back case. It makes me nervous, but so far the case looks good and that's despite a dive (gasp!) from the back seat of my car onto the floor with much sound effects during unusually heavy braking. When I place it in my man-purse/computer bag I worry that it is rolling about with all the potentially dangerous things I carry in there (wire-bound notepads, Dj headphones, etc.) and if you were to drop it on pavement it would be absolutely donezo, no question. (this may be true with some full cases as well though)
I think the cover is great for home-only use, and having a "travel case" for expeditions into the world is the ideal setup. If you're only planning on buying one I would say go off how anxiety prone you are; if it will keep you up at night fearing for it get a real case, if the back can get scratched up without giving you an ulcer just grab the cover.

Order my white 64gb ipad2 wifi only at 12:42 PST yes 18 minutes before it was supposed to be available and it hasn't even been prepped to ship while people even hours after already are getting confirmation. Says it will be here 18-25, yea well see bout that
