Still waiting for my 32gb black AT&T model to prepare for shipment

Not really happy with how this is going down and hope that Apple has quicker delivery up its sleeve somehow.

If you can come up with a quicker way to get it here from China for free, please let us all know. Maybe we could go into business.

Hmmm....quicker delivery.

The last 3 times I've purchased Apple stuff online, it always arrives at least 1 day earlier and once, 2 days earlier than Apple or Fedex tracking indicated.

A couple of times, it has been obvious that Apple rushed them stateside (quicker than is available for average consumer without a huge premium) and held them for a targeted delivery date.

Just hoping!

My daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner took place Friday night, in Los Angeles. On the way to dinner, on the bus that shuttled guests to the dinner, I got to play tour guide.

"And on the left, we're passing the line at Best Buy, where people are waiting to pick up their iPads." I made a photo with my iPhone as we drove by.

I'd ordered mine a little before 1 a.m. PT, and it should be here by Thursday. I'm sure waiting in line would have been fun, but my wife and daughter definitely woud have put the nix on that plan.

Just got my shipment notice

I was on the Apple site early and noticed I was able to place my order before 1 am (at 12:45) on Friday. But I accidentally selected the Verison model so I had to start over, but after updating my home address as well (recently moved) I was able to get the order placed at 1:04am.

I got a black ATT 64 gb model with a navy leather case and also had it engraved. Just now got the tracking on Sunday night and it is scheduled for Thursday delivery. Not bad at all, no waiting in line either (or driving for hours to an Apple store) Just glad I got a jump on it and was able to catch the first wave! And Apple stuck to their schedule that I got when the order was placed which was 3-5 business days.

I'm pretty careful with my stuff, just wondering how people found it so far. If I don't have to get a case and add bulk I don't want to. The aluminum back should be fine.

I bought the iPad and smart cover on Friday night (only waited in line about 20 minutes) and I've found it to be pretty cool mostly. I do like the sleekness and non bulkiness of it.. And it's great when you want to fold it into a little triangle and prop it up in landscape mode either standing or flat... But when you want to hold it portrait style, it gets a bit in the way I think.. I end up removing it when I am wanting to hold the iPad in portrait mode. Also the polyurethane ones will probably be dirt and hand oil magents after just a few weeks. Mine is still fine and new looking now, but I can just for see that being an issue... Because you're constantly gripping it with your whole hand on the inner suede part. And when latched on, it transfers that dirt and oil right onto your screen leaving little lines visible (the ridges in between the panels) when the screen is off. I also kinda wish there was a little something to protect the back from scratches.. Overall it's pretty cool though.

My god statements like this make me sad. You feel superior because while the rest of us were going to work and having lives, you were spending NINE hours of your life waiting in line to hand someone money. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to get my new ipad, but a few days of patience buys me my self-respect.

PS. As a side note, ordering online has almost always gotten me the items sooner, I got the iphone 4 last year the day BEFORE it was released in the stores.

Yup I agree.

I ordered my iPad 2 32GB Black Wi-fi model at 5:15 AM EST on March 11th and only just got the confirmation email a few hours ago! Probably won't ship for another few days. Luckily it still says shipping in 3-5 business days.

Originally I had a notification it would arrive on the 18th, then I got a its shipped on Saturday stating I would get it on the 17th, and now it has moved to the 16th.

However the FedEx ticket still shows the 17th, so perhaps Apple believes otherwise. Since I am in Atlanta and FedEx has a major hub in Tennessee (or maybe they are the ones in KY) it should not be long.

The sad part is, the cover is going to arrive later which is odd as it was prepared first.

I guess I don't get this generation, or perhaps I never understood the gadget/thing status people.

I can see standing in line for concert tickets, did that back in my high school and college days because your after an event, not a thing. The concert cannot be experienced after the event; no video I have seen has come close to one.

That is the difference I cannot reconcile. This is like people who think driving a certain brand car means something; here's a hint, if you can get a payment plan from your local bank it means the car isn't special and neither are you.

So standing in line for hours to obtain an item you can get anytime in the future will forever be odd to me.

I ordered my Black 32Gb WiFi around 9am ET on the 11th and my FedEx tracking shows it scheduled for delivery on the 17th (my birthday, BTW!) by 4:30!

I don't think that has much to do with Apple.

The decent availability of third-party cases for the iPad 2 at launch is rooted to the fact that case manufacturers now have a decent understanding of the potential demand. When the original iPad came to market, there was no sales history: zero data.

I was referring to apple's original case. Apple knew how many iPads they were shipping, AND they knew aftermarket case designers would be playing catch-up due to the lack of data you cite, but the "official" iPad 1 case was still backordered for two months. Anytime Apple introduces a brand new product, they know they are in a prime position to take first crack at selling accessories for it. Most of the time, they get a golden two months of free reign before better options start showing up to compete. So, when Apple pushes an accessory as "official" and doesn't ship enough of them, it's a manufacturer supply issue, not a market anticipation mis-read.

Bottom line: Apple couldn't make their first case fast enough to keep up with iPad shipments; this time, the stores are overflowing with them.

I ordered two 64GB WiFi + 3G (AT&T) Black iPad 2 units on Friday morning @ 12:55 am PST along with two of the gray smart covers. The two smart covers shipped on Friday night and will be here mid-week. Both iPads shipped last night and were in 'Preparing for Shipment' status most of yesterday. According to FedEx tracking I should have the iPads this Friday by 4:30 pm. They're shipping from China, of course. Thought it odd that each iPad is shipping via a different tracking number, presumably in different boxes. Whatever, I'm just glad they're on their way.

Hi Guys,
I have a question for everyone who has already received their shipping confirm! How long (roughly) did it take for your order status to change from "prepared to ship" to actually being shipped out? My status changed last night at about 8pm to "prepared to ship". I am REALLY hoping it actually ships out today. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I ordered mine at 4:27am EST and it still says NOT SHIPPED. I would have thought I made it in the first wave. Anyone else order that early and not shipped yet?

3-4 weeks, really?

Has anyone that got the 3-4 shipping estimate had their order shipped? As they put that estimate on every model, I'm just wondering if they are really short on every model or once they start to asses their stock this week there may be some of the models that can be shipped earlier. I ordered a White 64gb Verizon model, which I've heard was the least popular in the retail stores.

Waited nine hours in line to get mine. I learned better than to try ordering a new Apple product online YEARS ago.

How was waiting in line for 9 hours a good idea? I set an alarm for 3:55am, spent 10 minutes to place an order, and went back to bed. Mine will be here on Friday.

People think think spending 9 hours in line and having the iPad that day is better than spending 10 minutes online and having it in a few days. This is the same mentality of a person that will drive 45 minutes for a "free ice cream" promotion. It matters on little you value your time rotting away in line.

FedEx Flights

Here is my complete guess:

For many of us, myself included, I'm sure your tracking number shows your iPad in Lantau Island, HK. My best guess is that the iPad shipped out on FedEx flight 98 to Memphis, TN or possibly FedEx flight 9164 to Anchorage, AK. I've seen Apple products come through AK before, but my guess is that it most likely is going to Memphis first.

FYI - If you are checking the FlightAware links, it is rare that it will show actual departures for flights originating (or arriving for that matter) outside of the US live. Both flights would have departed already, so it's a matter of waiting for their arrival, with the flight to AK arriving in a couple hours, while the Memphis flight will be ~12 hours from now.

I ordered mine at 1:08am PST and mine also says not yet shipped..I'm impatient!

Watch out man, I got jumped on for making a similar observation. The nerdy natives are restless.:D

Nothing!!

My order is as the same as it was when I made it March 11 at 1:09 AM. My iPad white 16 GB 3G At&t says "NO yet shipped". When it will change the status? Totally impatient. :apple::eek::confused:Some at&t iPads are already shipped. Don´t understand the Apple shippment system.
