How much is that iPhone gonna cost? With all such features doubt it’ll be 1099 as the 11 Max...

That would be a grave mistake.

But would nicely explain the lack of leaks to not hype the announcement too much.
The benefits of using 30 GHz 5G are few. While in very dense urban conditions you are guaranteed a connection instead of all circuits busy, the very limited range, higher battery usage is a example of where technology has plateaued. Those discussions of Gbps downloads benefits exactly who with those phones? What are you going to be doing on a phone that really needs that? 4K videos? There are better devices to use! It’s nice to talk about, but mid 5G is really sufficient for most situations. :)

No mmWave 5G here in Italy. Wonder if that will translate into a lower price for the Pro Max?

The only way that could happen is if Apple released a Pro Max without mmWave to cut down on the hardware cost. They have produced different versions of iPhones before to accommodate different networks and it would make sense here given the lack of mmWave in general. I'd buy that model, personally. mmWave can wait.

My guess is that Apple will realize that they made a mistake by limiting mmWave to only the $$$ phone and then next year, each model of the 2021's iPhone (probably the 12s) will all have the mmWave.

If they decide against releasing an iPhone with mm 5G here in the UK then this is going to be the year I move to Android. It would be a terrible decision. £1k+ phones should have a multi year life span.

It’s Call marketing Sales tactics 101. That’s what Apple does in terms to create a separation of features to sell the most expensive device (By the way, it’s a commonality of all tech companies). What would you expect them to do? Sell phones that all have the same features? They would never be able to sell their larger phone, if consumers didn’t have the price point option of having all the same features.
What??? Are you saying that if Pro Big and Pro Small had the same features they would not be able to sell Pro Big? Well, how about the people who want a larger screen, for starters?

I have gotten ever new iPhone for a decade but I might skip this year... it will be replaced in just 10 months and with a fairly useless lidar and limited 5G availability it seems underwhelming.

I can see the class action lawsuit already. But you said my phone was 5G but you really didn't tell me is doesn't support mmWave 5G.

I’m going to call complete BS to this. With all of Apples prowess it makes zero sense they can’t design a still rather large phone 6.1 inch to fit a 5G antenna. 5G has been on the drawing board for quite some time now, you can’t tell me they didn’t have time to figure out how to get it to fit. Perhaps it’s a cost saving measure or some other reason, but to give that reason is a slap in the face to anyone with a brain.

For the U.S., who is stuck using mmWave because of poor federal decisions, those high frequencies are very important. The U.S. basically has no mid band 5G service in the near future.

I just don't get why super dubber fast is such a 'thing'

At home I had 15 meg down cabel service and was fast
Upgraded to 150 meg service and page loads etc are exactly just as fast

When I am on LTE my phone gets around 40 down and when on home wifi (150) it is impossible to tell any performance difference...

If mm 5G will only be implemented in the biggest phone— that just goes to show that it's still an Alpha feature and not really ready for prime time.
Think -first generation

Except they are already on the second generation, which is lower power.

5G is also supposed to handle congestion better. This is more important to me than raw speed. I personally don't care much what I get at home, because cellular is not congested in my house. Whether my iPad gets 40 Mbps or if it gets 150 Mbps, I don't care. Downtown at the convention centre during a big meeting, in a big metropolitan centre? That can be a very different experience. Latency increases, and sometimes data access becomes less reliable. This is not good if you're on a business trip trying to submit that big file to your co-workers for review.

Indeed, and it's also why this rumour doesn't make a lot of sense.

I’m hoping this rumor isn’t true, but it lines up with the UL and 3C certifications revealed in July showing both 6.1” models with the same battery capacity.

The whole industry is counting on the lemming effect when it comes to 5G. People like you who actually THINK for themselves realize that the whole 5G push is pretty meaningless. Who cares if you get 1Gbps on your phone? Seriously. Who care?! You're never going to notice it.

I’m keeping my current iPhone until it explodes, implodes, is sucked into another dimension, etc. I’m soooo tired of spending money on junk after junk. Expensive cars, turn into junk. Expensive phones, junk. I hate huge phones and will never get that size. It could create a hologram of paradise and I wouldn’t get it. Anyone willing to spend that much money on something that will be junk in 3-4 years is a complete idiot.
