Microsoft is rumored to acquire OpenAI and already have Bing Chat app for Android which is based on GPT-4. Last I checked free ChatGPT is based on the less capable GPT-3.x so you have to pay for ChatGPT Plus to get GPT-4.
The MS app is also on IOS. And yes, it's Gpt4, not 3 like this app (unless you pay). Looks like everyone wants their pay day. I totally agree and not too sure what all the excitement is about.

For the ones that have acess:

1. It uses openai whisper technology. How does it compare to ios internal voice recognition (siri?)?

2. Why does it require ios 18.5? Is whisper going to be accessible system wide in iOS?

If AI is the future.. can we get something like this?

This is sad . I cannot rejoice of apple "accomplishment" in any way tbh . Apple is in a position that allows them to have the better apps . Sure they provide good API, but they are mostly Lucky that devs and users are willing to invest on their platforms (be it time or money)

That's how they remain kings, and eventually reign with a monopoly, especially in the US

And the idiocy of many many apple users combined with cognitive dissonance resolution , which makes them use confirmation bias to keep buying and defending apple is plain sad

But what else would you expect from a guy who works at google ? He wouldn't tell u the truth now would he ? His view is subjective
If you honestly believe Apple is just “mostly Lucky that devs and users are willing to invest on their platforms” then it makes no sense that you refer to them as a monopoly, since a monopoly by definition doesn’t come about from luck.

Nope. Don’t care. Enjoyed the South Park episode. Keeping my head in the sand on this, VR and EVs.

Amazing technology that enriches our lives and becomes the future isn’t the kind that needs to be pushed on us or come with a warning… nobody had to be convinced to buy an iPhone or iPad. It was love at first sight with money being most people’s only objection.

Starting with the most important market makes sense. In the coming months/years, it will be rolled out to more countries
Yeah the Chinese / Russians are mostly interested in infiltrating the US first. Then they’ll leverage it against the rest of us

Never could get the verify email. Checked spam, mail logs, etc. Nothing. Wound up creating an account using Apple and hiding my email address.

Apple is (…) mostly Lucky

Congrats, you solved the puzzle and your wisdom will now be taught at business schools the world over. Apple became the most valuable company in the world by pure dumb luck and because all their users are sheep. That must be it.

Kripke?

How are those apps fake? Do they fail to do something they promised they could do? Are they claiming that they are the official ChatGPT app? ChatGPT has an official API which these apps use. I don't see how they are illegitimate. If someone creates a mapping app using the Google Maps API or a Reddit app using the Reddit API no one bats an eye.
Because they can potentially be anything, including malicious. They will ask you to log in using your chatGPT credentials, but who knows if they are recording that login and password for their own purposes. Would you want to log into your Bank using an app with a similar name made by some random person in China or Russia?

i do find that Siri’s voice recognition is not as good in the car when it is using the car’s microphones. You can tell when it is happening in our older car because it switches from radio to Bluetooth mode when you invoke Siri, even from the phone. The car’s microphones don’t have the same noise reduction that the phone’s do.

How do I disable chat history in the app? I can do it on the web version. Or does it sync with web settings?
