Definitely loads pages faster than Safari over 3g and Edge. Zooming needs work and there are some rendering issues on sites that don't have mobile versions. But Safari sucked at viewing a lot of those same pages too...

Kind of funny seeing people try it for like 5 minutes tops and then deleting though. Anyone try on an iPad?

I am shocked they approved it! However I don't understand why it is not working for me, when I open it I only get a white screen with an opera bar at top?

Well, would be nice to know why the app was approved this time, since everyone expected it not to. So, maybe add this to the list of inconsistent approvals/rejects anyway.

It was approved because its horrible.

So I am trying to get my Safari bookmarks and am having no luck. I have tried enabling the Opera Link thingy and it says it syncs everything from my computer with my phone and after it says complete nothing has changed and my bookmarks are still not there. Anyone know what to do with this or having any luck getting their bookmarks?

EDIT: Finally got them on to my phone but it took like 30 tries using the Opera Link. Also in doing so I had the Opera browser freeze twice on my phone. I think I will stick with Safari until this is more stable.

The first time I loaded it I encountered a screen as you describe, so I let it sit for a few moments and then it brought up some basic info about it with an OK at the bottom. I think it's downloading extras, or doing a first time setup?

I'm sticking with Safari for now

I don't like the way it displays text, you have to zoom in on everything to read it. ;) It's clunkier then Safari, with Safari the pages just render properly.. But Opera is definitely a LOT faster then Safari!

it seems to have a problem keeping user name and password for sites. Anyone else have same problems?

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.0176/1150; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)

Typing this from Opera Mini on the iPod Touch. I like how it's fast, but the zooming takes some time to get used to.

Today is a great day in history. :)

Opera is to Safari what Firefox is to Internet Explorer.

Today is a great day. :)

Oh, and scrolling around the page is FAST too! I have a 3G and when I move around a large webpage fast, it seems like a 3GS - no gray squares and slow lagging. It's quick!

It has been 10min on a 2mb connection, and still nothing, just white screen with loading circle thing. On iPod Touch with 3.0 firmware :(

I couldn't agree more. I hear people praising it's speed, but the other issues outweigh the speed by a long shot. Screen rendering is terrible. Zooming doesn't work. It feels stiff when scrolling.

I tried it and now it's gone. Let me know when Firefox is available. :D

Opera Mini for IPhone doesn't work in UAE?

I downloaded Opera Mini for my IPhone 3GS but it doesn't seem to connect anywhere. All I see is Opera Mini text on the top and spinning circle next to it. Anyone else facing the same problem? I live in United Arab Emirates.

Zooming is funky. I would imagine that opera's servers are getting tested with everyone jumping on to the app to see how the app performes. I'm with the others in that I'm not sure that I'll be giving mobile Safari a pass. This post was made from Opera Mini and took much longer with the lack of native keyboard support like I would have from mobile safari with spellcheck, etc.

Once I got this thread open and read it. I downloaded the app, just tried it and just deleted it also. Definitely nothing in comparison to the iPhones safari browser.

Wow. Faster than all hell!

Needs:
Autocorrect
Good zoom management after single tap
Proper zoom "fit" after zooming
Less horizontal scoll sensitivity if they can fix the zoom issue.

While its true this browser isn't perfect, this is so much faster than Safari and is much more practical for daily tasks.

Been giving this some heavy usage, and I give it my Thumbs-Up.

No spell-check is annoying though.

Yes I did try it on iPad
It is not good
I definitely don't like it
So I just deleted it after 2 min.

No it wasn't faster for me on my iPad
Actually it was slower and it's rendering was just bad
You should touch the screen to see something
But even after that it looks bad
I deleted it will wait till next version
Sorry

Agreed. Opera mini is unusable. Safari renders pages better, and the adaptive zooming actually works in Safari. Macrumors and Engadget to name two - just render terribly. You either can't read anything or it's zoomed in too far. Useless. It's actually a joke. Why the excitement over this?
