i did it again and rebooted phone instead of resprung but it still gives me the error when trying to log in. maybe its cause i'm on firmware 4.2.1 ?

Maybe open cydia and look at installed packages, to make sure it's installed? It's called fixoptimum, or something like that.

its installed, even if i type in the wrong login info it still gives me the same error by default. the os is modiefied message blah blah blah. wonder if something is chached on my phone, i even tried reinstalling the optimum app.

seems to only work for iphone, worked on my iphone, but ipad 2 still has the same msg

.Deb Worked with iPhone but not iPad

As the subject says:

Iphone 4 running 4.3.3 = OK

Ipad 2 running 4.3.3 = no good. NOW GOOD! Read below.

Downloaded .deb file into iFile, installed with iFile, rebooted (not respring) and after a few logins it works on the iphone 4 again.

Update:

The solution offered by drg0nz0 for the iPad does work just fine (solution is further down). This is far easier than constantly renaming cydia.
My iPad 2 running 4.3.3 is good to go. Tx.

AT&T iPhone 3GS running 4.3.3 = IT WORKED!!!!!

I downloaded and installed the .deb using iFile, resprung, rebooted & it worked first try! :)

Installed deb

The app works now to watch live tv. It does not control the cable boxes and it lists me as having 6 extra sd boxes.

One thing odd is that my phone lost the swirling icon on reboot and respiring. The icon is kind of a bubble static square now.

Hi all,

I was on another thread about the TWC solution, and the same code TWC used to detect jailbroken iThings seems to be in use by CV. If you rename Cydia's directory AND apt's directory, the Optimum app will finally work!

I've done this to my iPad v1, and it's working again.

For reference, you can look up the directory paths here.

How about step by step instructions what to do?

I'm not sure what other apps can help manipulate the filesystem (perhaps iFile can rename things?), but for everyone that's familiar with using a shell:

1. Log into your iThing using its IP address:
Code:
$ ssh root@192.168.1.2

2. Rename your Cydia directory and your 'apt' package directory to whatever you want. Note that, in the future, you'll have to rename these BACK to their original names when you want to use Cydia or install something:
Code:
$ mv /Applications/Cydia.app /Applications/SomeOtherName
$ mv /private/var/lib/apt /private/var/lib/SomeOtherName

3. Log out and start Optimum app:
Code:
$ exit

That's it! If you haven't setup your iThing's password beforehand, it will be the default password (which I've forgotten long ago, you will find it on the net).

Awesome fix

I got this working on the iPad. The issue is the iPad executable is different from the iPhone executable. After installing the .deb file you have to edit /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/Optimum.plist change the quoted value to Optimum. So there is no need to rename cydia.

This worked for me. Thank you!! :)

got this working on my gf's phone in one try. it still won't work on mine, I don't know why my phone is so special. only thing i can think of is my firmware is 4.2.1 & hers is 4.3.3. I'm not gonna rejailbreak and reinstall apps and crap for optimum.

Simple solution for iPad and iPhone any models

I found information about very simple solution for iPad and iPhone any models:

Rename your Cydia directory and your 'apt' package directory to whatever you want. Note that, in the future, you'll have to rename these BACK to their original names when you want to use Cydia or install something:

/Applications/Cydia.app rename to /Applications/SomeOtherName
/private/var/lib/apt rename to /private/var/lib/SomeOtherName

This is it!!! Log in to Optimum - everything is working now!!!!
Tested on my iPad2 and iPhone 4 both running 4.3.3.
Current Optimum software version 2.0.1

Yeah installing this .deb fix and editing the file is a much better solution you don't have to keep changing your cydia and apt names.
