Revert to version 2.0.1

I just finished installing the older version 2.0.1 and it works for now. :)

!!!!!!JUST DON'T UPDATE STAY AWAY!!!!!!

They changed how they check for Jailbroken devices...

They're actually checking for the exact same stuff. Cydia and apt in the file system. They may be twarting the dylib in the mobile substrate. Hoping there is a fix soon because it's not long before Optimum blocks 2.0.1 from connecting to the service.

Cant use the app anymore!!!! I get a message saying the version I have is no longer working and that I HAVE to upgrade

Cant use the app anymore!!!! I get a message saying the version I have is no longer working and that I HAVE to upgrade

I just got the same message and I canceled it then signed in.

I was able to sign in and see the TV listing but I'm not home so I don't know if live TV works. I will check later today and post the results.

I just posted this in 'How to enable VPN to watch live tv' thread, but this one seems to be more current bc people are posting about it here so sorry for the double post. Anyways...

Well, as of today, those bastards at cablevision are blocking the use of any earlier optimum app version lower than 2.0.2. Was watching tv on my phone yesterday while at the dr's office and today a message pops up saying that this version (2.0.1) is no longer supported and must be upgraded.

Of course I didn't upgrade, but 2 options came to mind:

1 - Don't upgrade, stay stuck not being able to do anything with the app and wait for one of the geniuses around here to patch it to make the servers over at cablevision think that the app is up to date and have everything work as it once did.

2 - Upgrade, be able to use the app like normal - all functions but only watch live tv in my home network.

Now as far as option 2 goes, i'm sure that if I upgrade to 2.0.2, the BS message about being jailbroken will pop up and I won't be able to do anything anyway. My guess is that they patched the jailbreak patch as well as the vpn patch. So i'd have to wait for one of the geniuses to figure out how to fix that again.

What does everybody think?

Some help please! With the new error message.. I'm starting to hate optimum!

The optimum fix

This is how you fix the new optimum update for those of us who updated it and get the stupid no jailbroken device allowed message:

1) Go into your phones root directory. I use ifile and did this directly from my phone. You can use ssh or whatever you like.
2) Go to var, stash, applications.
3) scroll down to cydia.app and change the name of this app to anything you want. I changed it to notcydia just to see if there program look for cydia in any word and it does not.
4) exit out, re-spring and to back to optimum online and enjoy.
5) GIVE OPTIMUM THE MIDDLE FINGER FOR STICKING THERE NOSE WHERE IT DON'T BELONG!!

PS. I am not a programmer I just tried this to see if there new security was looking for cydia and got lucky so I'm passing it on. Good Luck.

2) Go to var, stash, applications.
(Edit: Go to /Applications to locate the Cydia.app)

FYI - I just followed Zeff's instructions above and it WORKED! :)
One thing i have to update is the location of the Cydia.app......it's actually located in /Applications (not var/stash/applications like stated above)
You just rename Cydia.app to whatever you like (i changed it to NotCydia.app) and it worked perfectly!

Great Job Zeff :)

It works but when connected to VPN, it knows I'm not on my home network. So the apps goes in, but no tv over VPN. Anyone else having this problem?

This is from another thread:

Haven't tried your vpn patch but I did find another solution that works and i'm watching live tv again:

1. Remove the 2 patches installed for 2.0.1 (the JB patch and the VPN patch)
2. Use 3G Unrestrictor or My3G (Im using 3G Unrestrictor) and add the optimum app to the list.
3. Change Cydia folder name to bypass JB detection
4. Connect to VPN
5. Watch live tv anywhere again
6. Curse out cablevision in victory celebration

Credit goes to eslash on sinful iphone for this solution.

I don't remember how and where I installed the two 2.0.1 patches to remove them. Do you guys know what to remove to get this to work?

Can someone create a .deb patch so we can patch it again and not have to rename Cydia?

Go into Cydia, it's in your installed packages

i updated to 2.02, deleted the two patches i had installed for 2.01(uninstall in cydia), changed the name of the cydia app in ifile, downloaded the vpn patch provided in the "How To: Enable VPN to watch Cablevision LiveTV outside your home" thread on this same website, and now everything is working great!!!

Watching tv at work right now on my iphone4.

Thanks to those who figured it out!

Guys- great effin job!!!

What pisses me off to no end is that I just want to watch in my home, on my legally jb device- not stealing anything......

These cokkkksuckers spend this time and energy to block jb device, yet their company service is falling apart (just my experience) and they constantly play cat and mouse for the 1000 or so people using jb in their territory...... What a waste- get a clue and fix your company where it matters.....

I gets no props for that solution... :)

I've been telling everyone to keep Cydia renamed when using the Optimum app, since all CV has to do to break your patches is change the code around.

Remember, they can move their code; they can "hide" the code; and a few other tricks. In the end, though, they can only go so far because Apple has a leash on all devs. Checking for Cydia is the most popular way for them to detect JB iThings, so just rename it!

Worked like a charm! +1

Sweet....on my ipad2 as stated above the Cydia.app folder is in the /Applications folder. Thanks zeff116

The renaming Cydia trick worked for my girlfriends phone but not mine. Her Phone is on iOS 4.3.3 and mine is 4.2.1. So I wonder if that's the reason Or something else on my phone is the Reason why it won't work
