I'm a newbie so sorry for the scepticism here. Genuinely don't think we'll see our watches this week.

Ordered 2 Sports. One pink 38mm for the wife and a Space grey 42mm for me.

Confirmation email came at 08.03 so I was hopeful for Friday but I just don't know now.

Can still happen. Payment taken and delivery booked tomorrow. Courier gets it Thursday. We get it Friday.

Apple Stores across the country if we don't get our Watches on Friday:

I really hope so. The wife is despairing at my levels of obsession. Constantly watching videos and reading reviews and it's nice seeing I'm not the only one who's like this.

I don't think you're being skeptical just pragmatic. Let's look at the facts..

1) There is a TWO week window
2) Apple never confirmed all regions would see it on the 24th, in fact they have been careful to not mention the exact dates
3) U.S will get the majority of stock because of the demand
4) UK is one small part of Europe and I'm guessing our stock allocation will be much smaller than the rest of Europe's.

I'm not saying you WON'T get it Friday, but there is certainly logical reasoning to think so;) Heck my email confirmations came in at 8:01 and I'm still unsure.

No need to worry just yet! For all we know they are probably already in the country and will start going out tomorrow.

This. Chances are actually relatively high that the UK will not receive watches for Friday. I hope I'm wrong, but it just seems logical at this point.

Does anyone really think apple would risk the bad PR if they had none shipping to the UK at the start of launch?

Ordered a silver sport with white band and had email through at 8:03. Still at processing (with 24/4-8/5 windows) but I have the Amex passbook widget so I should get pinged, ironically on my Pebble, as soon as the charge goes through (not happened yet) - saves a bit on the refresh-mania!

Also have a blue leather loop but that was ordered a fair bit later (hadn't noticed I had mistakenly ordered the large instead of medium initially) - that has a window of 28/4-11/5 so not expecting anything there this week.

I think we're just guessing now

Also, why would they schedule in all thee workshops around Apple watch basics etc if they knew there was no chance of delivery?

A number of people have been called up by retail staff around their bookings and they've not been told to cancel etc.

Stay strong people and keep the faith. #IBelieve

It won't be bad PR as the press will simply state that facts, which are that your receipts and email confirmations stated a TWO WEEK WINDOW.

----------

However, did your email confirmation tell you the 24th? Nope it had a two week window, just like everyone else.

I have faith that some watches will be here on Friday - why would Apple stores have workshops if no one was going to have a watch to take with them?

I have heard they are calling people up to see if they still want to keep their bookings. I'm thinking there will be a majority of cancellations come Friday. I really hope I'm wrong, but at this point I'm not going to get my hopes up and then be disappointed come Friday.

That maybe, but the press is the press,
it would be Apple Watch sold to Noone as launch continues around the world...

I agree. The UK were one of the countries 'launching' on 24 April, so I think Apple will have some UK stock allocated and delivered on Friday, not least so their 'launch-day' press release can say how they have shipped x million watches to y countries in their most successful new category product launch ever.

The two week delivery window (24/4-8/5) is unusual, but EVERYONE in the first batch got that (the US included).

So have faith. I'm sure there are a lot of watches sitting in the Hinckley distribution centre waiting for someone to start scanning them and sticking on our delivery labels.

Hinckley?! That's just down the road, woohoo!

Let's stick to what we KNOW:

  1. Our shipping estimates still include April 24th
  2. In past launches devices haven't shipped until the day before launch and they arrived on time
  3. Apple's press release states 'available' 24th; compare this to the MacBook which was not in the UK on the expected date, but whose press release stated 'ships on' and not 'available'
  4. Apple will know what inventory they have and who will be getting theirs on Friday. There is no guesswork in their supply chain. They know there will be a PR storm if they don't meet launch day. So if we were not getting ours on Friday they would have started the PR machine already to spin the missed date away, starting with changing our shipping estimates

Of course, I could be wrong. But if most people don't get theirs this Friday, Apple will have a right mess on their hands.

Its completely plausible that we won't all get our watches on Friday, but I disagree completely with the suggestion that the entire UK will miss out.

The UK is a launch country, they will have allocated some stock to each launch country - otherwise, by definition, they wouldn't be a launch country.

Well, it's getting near 2pm for the guy who told us it was certain we would start getting bank debits at that time!

Come to think of it, he's been awfully quiet. haha
