To be fair, I'm not sure how relevant the "only" is there - we don't know how many orders were placed in the first 5 minutes.
Perhaps the first thing to do would be to collect up the things people are annoyed about with the handling of the launch, and then assess how reasonable those complaints are.
I realise that I'm sitting here with a watch on my wrist and questioning how reasonable it is to be annoyed at having no watch on your wrist, but I think the first question I'd ask, is, has anyone actually not received their watch inside their original shipping window? Maybe some people fall into that, since I think today is the last shipping opportunity for the first window that was given?

Apple will take returns in the 14 day window in any state, so long as the item isn't damaged/broken by you.
So, an open box return in good nick, is absolutely fine
They even cover the cost of a courier collecting the thing (TNT in my case)
I think it's because they've had to process all the additional strap orders in order to get them out before the deadline for the 1st wave.
I kinda expect no movement now and think I've finally accepted it. Therapy pays for itself hahaha!!
I'm wondering if manufacturing rates have dropped due to a shortage of parts. There have been stories that one of the two suppliers for the taptic engine has failed to meet the quality standards set by Apple and they are only able to source the part from one Japanese manufacturer.
If that is true (or if some other part is constrained for yield reasons) then it may be that they have burned through their initial stock and are now making smaller amounts per day as parts become available.
Pure speculation though, it's also worth remembering that we've just had a holiday weekend in China and the UK, so production/shipping may well have been affected by that.
My 42SSML 10/4 08:09:26 has gone through all the steps this afternoon. Processing -> Preparing for Dispatch -> Dispatched via UKMail.
Was starting to believe I wouldn't get it by Friday.

Hey HarryT & jrobert, I get that you're both still in processing hell, I really do (I will rejoice with you when the day comes). BUT, you are both now the leaders of several thousand Apple Watch disciples, who need you to be strong.
I've just checked back in and have found too many faithless posts of pity and despair - your leadership is needed to bring the disenchanted, the doubtful and the down-right non-believers back from the brink!
Remember, Lord Francis, is all-seeing, all-knowing, and all-conquering!
