(assuming that they can switch the mix instantly, because they have huge supplies of the different materials/components just sitting around waiting...)

I don't think we know at all what the spread is across the different launch countries, but it seems safe to guess that USA/China are getting proportionately more.

You could also say that it's not fair that we got to start placing orders at the relatively comfortable time of 8am, while folk in the US east coast had to get up at 0300 if they wanted to pre-order.

I very much doubt that there is any way this could have been done, such that everyone would agree it was fair :)

How about sales via The Apple stores

How about sales via The Apple stores

How is that fairer? That just prioritises people who are able to waste 2 days ******** in a bucket outside a shop, if they happen to live near one.

If you look at the videos of the iPhone launch day store line-ups, it's students selling their place in line to people who can afford to pay for it, app developers doing news interviews and just using the queue for publicity, and people paying cash for the phones and immediately handing them over to scalpers outside the stores.

IMO they should completely stop sending stock of popular devices to stores on launch days (see also the Dover Street Market thing, which has mostly been scalpers)

****ing hell

Would a lottery have been more fair?

I am waiting for my Apple Watch since 238 days (Introduced on Keynote at 09/09/2014)

I was well prepared for my order on April 10th. I assigned a favorite to my selected watch and checked the payment method one day before. But I made one mistake, I choose Safari for order and not the App first. But the Store was not available at xx:01. Because of this problem I get my confirmation mail at xx:09:50.

And maybe my second fault was to order a 42 mm SG BSB.

And because of these two faults I am just waiting getting my watch on my wrist.

After reading many posts of this thread I thought about many people of you, who ordered the watch, maybe has it’s own faults and was not able to order in the first minute. But all like me, tried to order in the first seconds.

And I thought about, wouldn't it be also fair, if Apple assigned the delivery time by a lottery to the people who ordered in the first minutes or maybe in the first hour?

But I know they will not make the lottery this time and therefore, maybe I have to wait until middle or end of May to get my Apple Watch

Markus

They should start pre orders for Apple Watch 3 now at the rate they're moving. Shocking coming from Apple
