no idea, they didn't really have an explanation for it. HSBC said they haven't received any pending transactions either.

Just sucks that i had it confirmed not to be getting it Friday

Is that Apple who "confirmed" it? Because I just had a chat with one of the support people and they said it's just waiting to be charged and they don't know anything more than 24/4-08/05.

I agree with your first point, but not your second about leather loops being harder to produce.

I believe they staggered the launch of some bands to relieve the pressure from production. It makes more sense to ask China to make you a limited number of variations to kick off and sell, then slowly start to also produce additional bands when the pressure of the initial release dies down.

Possible, but if the bands were that simple to manufacture then they could have been doing it since October at least to build that stock and then at least launch all models on day one even if stock was limited. I think it's more likely that during testing some additional issues were found with the leather and the link bands which set those back (sent them back to the process design phase). This doesn't have to be technical complexity per se, could be as simple as glue not curing properly or stitches coming undone. The Apple engineers test driving over the past few months have had time for such issues to manifest over time.

Carl Howe on the reality of Apple and the Apple Watch process:

“Imagine that someone came to you and asked you to deliver a million Origami (that’s the art of Japanese paper folding) lobsters within the next month,”

“Now let’s make this a little more realistic. As it turns out, we really want a million lobsters of two different sizes. Further, ordinary paper tears too easily and is the wrong color for Origami lobsters, so we’ve decided to make our own paper; that will require its own process. We also need to be able to deliver some of the lobsters with glitter and others with hand-painted decorations; we’ll need to plan to supply and apply those materials too. Oh, and we want to make a few thousand out of two colors of pure gold leaf instead of paper. You’ll have to manufacture the paper for that too,”

“There’s no rush; you can deliver your million lobsters any time during the month, provided that you don’t mind people complaining that you are way too slow at getting this done. Oh, and you’ll be criticized in the international press for every failure to produce perfect lobsters.”

“And now, imagine this same plan, except with this twist: no one has successfully folded this particular type of Origami lobster before, so you really don’t know how it’s all going to turn out. And your reward if you are successful will not be praise, but demands that you build even more next month,”

Should be manageable for a billion dollar tech giant with unrivalled supply chain resources... and if it's not, don't say that you can do it, get peoples hopes up knowing full well how enthusiastic your early adopters are and then let them down.

Not seen any removed myself. All 3 have ended and payments cleared in PayPal anyway.

There was a whole thread about it on here. eBay can easily still reverse the PayPal payments. Scalpers ruin it for the decent people. Like people that want gig tickets, but they sell out so quick because of scalpers and then within 5 minutes they're on eBay charging extortionate amounts.

Well, if mine misses the Friday "launch", I'll enjoy filling in the post-sales feedback from Apple when it does eventually turn up.

I'm not sure what more else I can do than getting a confirmation at 8:02am. If they simply have no watches available of the model I ordered 1 minute after going on sale, then it's not really a launch at all.

Yes, we all get hyped up...but Apple loves that and relies on it. So when things backfire, they're liable for a bit of grief from loyal customers.

Almost 8pm and nothing coming out of the account...
Officially given up on a Friday delivery.

Pathetic, people ordering days after me getting notifications and not me. Pi##ed off isn't the word!!!

So if the screengrab from the Apple Live chat is anything to go by

Apple have royally ********* up this product launch!!

I know people say this isn't Angela Ahrends fault, but when you think about it, its her first product launch as Senior VP of retail and it all goes Tits up!?

How exactly has it gone tits up? As long as Apple deliver within the estimated delivery window they have completed their end of the deal.

Agreed - she's screwed up here and in how way has justified her huge salary

The trouble is Apple support must have "under promise / over deliver" drummed into them as well. Online support say your watch will definitely be delivered on Friday and it isn't then you are very unhappy. Online support say you won't get it Friday but then you do means you are very happy.

You seem to have experience in this - how much do you think I could sell my 42mm SS with Classic strap for if I get it on Friday? I've seen listings up to £1400 - is that realistic??? (I have a 5* seller rating but have only sold like 10 things before)

I was so excited to have it this morning but now I've seen videos showing how slow it is opening apps!!!:eek::eek:

I'm getting extremely pissed off with disappointing apple products now (endlessly faulty £2500 Macbook Pro Retina, 2012 27" iMac that is too slow to open the photos app, numerous iPhone replacements)... I don't know if I even want to give this watch a chance anymore - Maybe I should just sell it to rebel.
i have only sold 3 Silver Sport, they're going for £499 + shipping all day long. You can hold out for £599 if you want, that's almost £200 profit per unit after shipping and charges. I'd assume similar applies to other models i.e 50% profit.

yeah i get that if they said "there is a slight chance" but saying theres no chance kind of stretches that saying. Imagine if i went work this weekend therefore missing the delivery and not being able to pick it up until Monday, I'd be equally annoyed

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to sleep on, not do anything I will regret. A few hours ago I never imagined I'd be one to "scalp" but reading your posts along with how p***ed off I am right now, it's making a lot of sense to me.

Also 100% agreed, why take away the queue on launch day, that is part of it.

The lack of queue on launch day is more likely due to stock level, which isn't her fault. She's done the best she can with the stock she had. Imagine if Apple had split it between retail and online. There'd be even more uproar from the people that preordered.

People need to learn the correct people to blame....

Guys, do you reckon who's already been charged is going to get it on Friday? Hopefully not Saturday as I put my office address
I wish I could just fall asleep now and wake up on Friday morning...
