Worse comes to worse I'll call my credit card company and tell them they refuse to cancel the other and have them take care of it.
 
The whole backordering problem happened last year with people who had to do the direct fulfillment through AT&T when they quickly ran out on launch day. If things are going to be like last year, then the whole backordered number will change multiple times before it actually ships. I remember the numbers changing hourly almost. There was a thread about it that consisted of pages upon pages of people asking when there phone would ship, and why it was backordered, etc. I'd assume that if you've ordered the phone before this weekend it should arrive on Friday, but that's just me... :rolleyes:
 
I ordered from Premier about 10 hours ago and I still have this as my status:

"We have received your order request, and we expect to begin processing it shortly."

I am assuming that is normal??

I ordered it at about 2:30 or 3:00 today and got an email at 5:09 confirming it and sending me the link to check the order status.

Also if this helps clarify things I was just upgrading not adding a line, I believe that's why I do not have that random SIM thing some people had.
 
So if you can't log on and verify, call and find out. He then admitted there have been a lot of people calling, and he suspects there will be some pissed off people on the 19th.

HAHAHAHA, it begins!

I think I'm better off preordering @ Apple. Hey, the Apple store is bound to keep Apple products in stock right? Right??!?! :)

Yeah, that seems to be what it is. I simply upgraded as well, therefore didn't need/get the new SIM.
 
can any one who ordered through the premier site, view their order status. Mine keeps saying the same thing online.."We have received your order request, and we expect to begin processing it shortly." but when i called the automated message said it was processed.

update: i checked on the regular att website, and it the same as yours above. backordered. Which is most likely going to change.
 
Ordered 3GS from Att yesterday, and have a question for anyone else that did. I initially tried to order through Apple, but if you are adding a line, Apple will not let you order.

So I ordered through Att on line. That went smooth, and I received a confirmation email moments later with a delivery promise of the 19th, and an order number. In addition, they included a link to check status of order. While it says up to 24 hrs to enter system, I have always found transactions like this to be very instantanious.

Problem I am having, it keeps saying no info available for order number. Like not in the system.

Point of post: Has anyone ordered on line from Att and been able to verify the order through link given in confirmation email. I am imagining that somehow I was lost in the electronic shuffle, and now I will not be in the initial delivery if I have to reorder.

I have a similar problem; as I mentioned in another thread, I ordered from Apple on Monday, then tried the Bing/AT&T deal Wednesday, then canceled the Apple order. When I check the order status, it says the info I entered was not recognized (it has been about 12 hours now).

While I know it hasn't been 24 hours yet, the fact that some have said they could check their status only an hour or two later makes me wonder if my order was canceled since I technically had two pre-orders for a short time.

I guess I'll wait until its been 24 hours then try calling AT&T if the status isnt updated by then.
 
Well I checked my order status again guys and it is no longer backordered. So hopefully it doesn't change again.

I did the same thing. It took about 7 hours to show up on the order status page. FYI I just got my bing cash back confirmation. My order status also went between back-ordered and not back-ordered. Right now it is not back-ordered.
 
mine is still backordered and no changes in the premier website, still says the same thing i previously posted. ordered mine the 9th.

I am upgrading from the original iPhone and my order shows the Random SIM.

BTW I tried ordering online from Apple but for some reason I couldn't so reserved one at the store. After ordering through AT&T how can I cancel the reservations at the store?
 
It took a couple of hours for my order information to show up on that link. It doesn't give much info.

Like others here, I too am wondering what the "Various SIM" entry is in your order. For my orders for my wife and me, when we go to the screen that you're showing there, we just have the phone and the freight shipping, no talk of a SIM card...

These are two new lines of service, as we are currently Sprint customers. Weird... Any thoughts? Who was that AT&T rep that posts here? Maybe he can shed some light on things.

Are you transferring your number from Sprint? I transferred my number from Verizon, so maybe that's what the SIM card entry is for.

I guess I won't be getting mine on the 19th. It says backordered -1 instead of 0

Originally, all 3 of the items were in the "Qty Ordered" and "Qty Back-Ordered" columns. About an hour later, they were removed from the backordered column.

Unless times have changed, I don't believe you can do it. You can dispute a charge, but only after its been processed. Credit card companies are not set to preemptively block charges (unless flagged as fraud)

i'm already on at&t, so i don't get 35% cash back, right?

That's what it says in the terms as far as I could understand. Couldn't hurt to try though. Some have said it works and said they got the bing email after upgrading their phone.
 
Just adding information onto this thread:

My credit card company declined the order from AT&T because I had an order with Apple I guess and then quickly ordered again so their fraud department declined it which is the reason I woke up so early this morning.

Anyway, I received an email late last night saying..

Dear xxx,

Thank you for choosing AT&T. Unfortunately, we are unable to process your order with the credit card you provided.

Please call us at 1-866-391-0749 by June 18, 2009 to provide updated credit card information.

Our order specialists are ready to serve you:

So I thought, great! I placed and order with Apple and called AT&T and they CAN CANCEL YOUR ORDER. Just to make sure I had them check to see if they'd retry to bill my credit card again but the lady said "I can just cancel your order.." No hassle what so ever... This is the number they gave me for the center i called...

1-888-290-4613 - I was a new customer the guy helping on the phone pressed 4 I think, 3 is for cancelation also but you might get better luck by hitting 4.

I just received my confirmation for my cancelation from AT&T too. Good luck to everyone!

Did you check on the regular AT&T wireless website with the same order number in your Premier confirmation email? I tried that and I am getting

"We're sorry but the information you entered was not recognized by our systems. Please contact us for further assistance."

On the Premier site it says:

"We have received your order request, and we expect to begin processing it shortly. "

It hasn't been exactly 24 hours yet -- I think it has been about 20. Do I just need to give it another few hours??
