Just cancel the order if it is backordered. Might as well wait in line.

The problem is, AT&T hassles you and says you cant cancel an order, you have to refuse the delivery when they are at your door. =\ Luckily I was able to do it.
 
stopping pre-orders?

anybody have any idea when they will stop accepting pre-orders and reservations at apple?? :confused:
 
FYI, I have 2 upgrades and both have the Various SIM In Progress:

I had my AT&T Company Rep order mine because they did not show on the Premier Store Web Site. I was told that they will show as back ordered but they will ship on the 18th to arrive on the 19th. Of course this is a business account.

For me I did not have to have it on the 19th even though it will be nice to get it on the 19th. However, I would not have waited in line to get one. So if I don't get it until the following week I am ok with that.

Did you dial the 1-800-331-0500 number to talk to a representative or someone local?
 
Ordered from Premier store yesterday around 2:30 PM. Here is what my current message looks like.

I ordered my 32 GB 3Gs through Premier yesterday and am currently receiving the same message as everyone else through the Premier site.

I went to the regular AT&T Order Status, used the Search Method of Home/Work Number and found my order no problem.

Everything is back-ordered for me like a lot of others. Hopefully it is like someone said earlier and they are back-ordered until shipped and I receive it the 19th.

Your right i tried that search method and now my is coming up backordered. Thanks at least I know its in the system.

I just called and told them that I couldn't see my order on the AT&T wireless website after putting in my home/work number, and they said that is probably because I am a new customer and those that see it are already current customers.

I was not a current AT&T customer when I pre ordered the iPhone, I was a Verizon customer. It only took an hour or two before my order status was updated.

The reason why it might be taking longer now is that there are a lot more people with pending orders than there was on Tuesday morning when I pre ordered.

I have been a customer since around 2003, so I just added a line to my family account to get the cheaper price with the intention of switching the new line to a basic $9.99 a month phone and taking the new 3Gs.

Just have to figure out if it is worth fixing a slight scratch in the 3G and selling it or keeping in ghetto as a back up.
 
Have we learned nothing from the first two launches?? The only reliable way to get one on the 19th is to go wait in line at the Apple store. If it's like the first two launches, AT&T stores will only get a small amount of phones in each store, and there will be lots of backorders fulfilled weeks later.
 
Tried to attach screen shot, not sure if will work. Order finally went through though shows backorder. Anyone know what this means. This whole process drives me nutty.

I thought there were no preorders during previous launches, though?

Oh well, my receipt says I have 7 days to pick it up and that my "new iPhone has been reserved". I'll get there first thing Friday morning regardless, but I'm not really worried. If they run out, there's a total of four Apple Stores, three Bestbuys, five Walmarts, and a slew of ATT stores within 30 miles of my house. I should be alright.

Just to add to the mystery of the "VARIOUS SIM". I am a new ATT customer, I am not porting over a number, and I do not have any mention of a SIM on my order screen.

mine is showing the same. has been like that for the past two days. i guess what they mean by back ordered is that they don't actually have them in stock, but will still ship from some unidentified location. at least that's what i'm hoping...and hopefully it doesn't mean they don't have any left to sell us...that would be sad day.

I'm not sure what it means, but like I said earlier, mine looked like that for an hour or so and then was removed from the backorder column. That was on Tuesday, though, so they actually could be backordered now.
