Not a huge deal, scamming is old news on ebay.

File a charge back on Paypal and the person doesn't get a cent.

£650. For a box of a4 paper lol

File a claim and weight the box. Check postage weight against original mb weight. It'll help your claim.

No that's why I bought it from her that's why in thinking maybe in transit I'd like to chat with her but paypal told me not to

I went through a Paypal fraud claim in December and was ruled in my favor. The seller was even providing false shipping records, claiming that I had received the item. For me it was straight forward, provided Paypal with truthful information and the actual correspondence. Took about 2 months to get my money back after filing the claim.

First time for me to get taken on ebay after >100 transactions in 8 years. The seller had 100% and about 250 transactions. Your seller may have had the account hijacked.

Good luck

Do you think that a middle man might have messed with it? Does it appear to be re-packaged? Extra tape, box cut in strange places, etc?

I don't know because I don't know what the seller sent it like how much tape they used etc it was just an old box taped up with clear and brown tape but anyone could of opened and sealed it back up.

If the seller was smart they'd have documentation of the packaging and contents at the shipping office. Then it could be that the seller will reimburse you but get to sue the packaging company/Win a claim with them.

looks like you found one of the numerous eBay scammers who know how to game the system to scam people. most likely you will not get your money back. you can try but your money is now most likely out of the country.

I would never ever buy or sell anything via eBay - way too many scammers who know how to game the system.

next time buy from a reputable seller, not another eBay thief.

proves nothing to me.

They had good feedback. So your point is invalid PayPal should cover me through buyer protection scheme. If not my bank will surely cover me.

I have to disagree pretty strongly here. This kind of thing does happen on eBay from time to time, and I've had to deal with a similar issue myself involving counterfeit product represented as genuine -- but in my experience, and from everything I've heard, both eBay and Paypal are pretty good about standing behind the customer in these circumstances.

It might take a long time, but I'd wager this will roll out in your favor. Even if you get scammed and they can't get 'your' money back, they'll probably reimburse you anyway and take the loss themselves; similar to the way credit companies handle most cases of credit card fraud.

Let's not even get into the exaggerated view that everyone on eBay is a "thief" out to scam you.

Wow, that's scary; you would think that a transaction with someone with that good a track record would go smoothly.

You can also file a claim with your credit card company.

Spoke with the seller and she explained she has sent the item and that she buys and sells macs for a living she said it could of been lost in transit and she had find my mac installed on the device. I hope she can find it and catch the scumbag. What are her chances though.

I definitely use ebay and paypal. I purchased a brand new Canon Pixma Pro-1 printer delivered for $575. No way I could get such a price from a brick and mortar store.

Indeed when you do buy and sell on ebay, do have your act together, keep all receipts and emails, take pictures of any problems and file a complain ASAP if there any issues.

Iv kept everything it's just paypal don't like to rush do they. I spoke with them again today said everything's ok and they are looking at it.

I have enough experience on Ebay to know someone with 1300 sales and a 99.7% positive rating isn't a scammer. It's someone who does Ebay stuff seriously and they don't want to get their account locked by sending someone a box full of paper...

Chances are she uses the same post office or shipper all the time, they know what she sends out, and someone making $10/hr replaced your laptop with paper. Sucks for both of you but PayPal will likely side with you and she is going to have to fight with the shipper to get her money back if she insured it for the right amount.

@ddot sorry to hear about this hope it works out. I know the lady sounded trust worthy but the better scammers would. I read recently of a scam the other way round where the buyer claimed the item wasn't in the box, the seller had money taken from their paypal account and debt collectors set on them !

By the way I'm not sure why you think your bank would cover you, what's this got to do with them ?

related issue.....NEVER use your main bank account number with paypal or any other service that will credit/debit you. At my bank I set up a special account that is only for dealing with paypal. When I am going to pay for something with paypal I transfer the money into the paypal account and then make the purchase. When I get paid for something, I pull the money into my regular account.

no need for fear mongering,

I use paypal all the time and have never had an issue

paypal is a billion dollar organziation, they are not going to ruin their reputation by giving away your bank info, the reviever knows nothing about your bank when you pay them, they just get an email and the funds go to their paypal account

I have been "hosed" maybe 2 or 3 times on ebay where I was shipped a knock off item being claimed as real and always got a refund

I have recieved broken items from ebay transactions and they have been refund by the seller with very little effort
