I have iPhone 7 Plus 256 GB. I'm upgrading. Why? The bezel. Or lack of bezel. I do not want that oversized brick of phone the plus is. I bought it because of the dual camera. Now I get the same with small physical footprint + OLED etc. At long last.
I am in the same boat, small form factor with good camera setup is what I would really appreciate. I dislike the ergonomics and non-pocket-ability of my wife's 6s Plus.

I think the purpose of the swipe up is not too skip notifications on the screen , if you look at the screen and it opens right a way you’ll miss them ...

Except I don't see the point of that, since the notifications won't tell you anything by default anyway. What's the purpose of a notification if you don't know what it's for/about?

Had a great childhood, NDA and security are not to be scoffed at and it’s pretty naive of this guy to not expect to be fired after letting his kid post videos. I wish him the best of luck getting any job where he would be in a position of trust.

I’m sure he’ll be able to find another job in a similar position. This reminds me of a similar story a while back where some kid got his parents fired for breaking NDA and reviewing an unreleased smartphone. I forget which phone it was, but he displayed the IMEI/serial number and everything. Don’t feel the least bit sad for that one because he exchanged some words with someone else from that company on social media and came off as a real jerk.

Seeing how the phone is extremely over priced and the majority of public will be passing on it, the more important question for the people here is ...”iOS 11.1 loaded on it?”

I fully understand how game changing this is, I simply went to an AT&T store and held a Galaxy S8 in my hand....

Please don't fall for Apple's marketing buzz words, other than refining facial recognition, and creating talking poop emojis, they haven't done anything new or revolutionary here.

This has nothing to do with a play on words. The fact is that larger phones are hard to use for folks with smaller hands and regular sized hands for that matter. With the 10 you get a smaller phone phone but still get the larger screen. So again...if Apple finds a way to make a smaller version of the 10 next year it’ll be a win in the usability and comfort arena.

Its an interesting review. Other than the form factor, face unlocking (mostly) and animated poop emoji - it does what the 8 does for significantly more money. The form factor is worth some coin though - to get that big screen that fits in your pocket.
It does much more and it’s not much of a difference in cost if you look at what you get
Oled and higher ppi(huge)
Both rear cameras are oic(again huge and will make low light video better than the 8’s) also aperture is different I believe on he second camera
All the features of the + model in the 4.6” size much improved front facing camera.
Battery life of the + in smaller form factor.

I think it’s worth the 150$ more for the screen alone

Notifications will tell you the full info if it’s you looking. If it’s a random person, they’ll be generic notifications (“you have an iMessage”), but if it’s you, it’ll show the actual message.

So from what I gathered, you are either trolling, don’t know how to use a phone, or how the general population uses a phone. Either way, you failed to come up with a logical argument and I’m ignoring you. Good day, sir.

BTW: The power button wouldn’t prevent the phone from going straight to the home screen without the indication that you just wanted to see the time.
The logical argument is that the phone should be smart enough to know if you have a notification. If there’s no notification, what’s the use in forcing the user to swipe up?

Also, if my phone is locked and I hit the power button to check the time....it doesn’t take me to the home screen.

Good morning, good evening, and good night.

Didnt go through all the pages to check if repost but soldier knows best on yt has a similar video,

I never heard of the Soldier Knows Best channel. However I've now subscribed to it. The guy seems pretty personable and goes straight to the point.

I suppose Apple will be able to improve Face ID over time. Hopefully they can figure out how to get Touch ID working through the screen and include it again in future models.

"Levy mentioned that "the biggest change" for the iPhone X is its screen, which is about the same size as the display of an iPhone 8 Plus in the body of an iPhone 8"

That's pretty much it. The iPhone 8 Plus is nearly everything the iPhone X is. It lacks FaceID, OIS on the Telephoto camera and OLED screen.

Which is why I bought an 8 Plus. I'l happily buy an XS next year but I love the 8 Plus.

Funny how the iPhone had the largest bezels and now it leapfrogged the competitors.
You mean after other manufacturers who were not dumb enough to add a notch? Not to mention it took two different models until they added smaller bezels.

Nice!, most of the camera angles helped to hide the disturbing notch, your are holding it right! IMHO FaceID is not enough to sacrifice the design. That notch accommodates a feature that is not as convenient as TouchId and most likely will make you change how you use your phone, put it on you desk then use your finger to unlock, read your notifications or quickly check something without moving your head... gone. People may look like robots putting the phone up to their faces to be and then swiping to just unlock, we could even see more cases of people having accidents because they have to look to the screen for another reason.

However, the biggest problem with iPhone is iOS, slow and full of issues, and Apple already pushed (successfully) their new ways into users: paid for hardware that barley handles their no quality software, wait a year to get something working, release a slower, filled with issues new iOS, repeat. iOS may be free but is the key element for Apple to make people need to buy a new device every year.

How is he allowed to post review while that poor girl's video was removed and his father was fired?
I don’t know. Maybe it was the propriety product codenames and schedules and Apple personnel that were on the employee phone and not on the reviewers phone.

Really? somehow the notch is a leapfrog to and all-screen device? you might be disappointed in a few years when Apple releases their best phone ever, with an early 2017 design.

Because he signed an NDA as a condition of his employment with Apple that he is not allowed to disclose things until he is given permission to do so, and he violated that agreement. This guy "Levy" was given permission to do so. This isn't difficult to understand is it?

These reviews appear to all be shot at the same location like upstairs at an Apple Store - notice the table? I'm doubting these guys actually had the phone for a week and used it as extensively as the Verge or WSJ or NY Times reviewers.

The biggest appeal is wanting to play with the face ID to see how well it works!

Once the novelty of that has worn off then I expect to get increasingly annyoing with 'the notch'..

Couple of generations this will probably be really good, but right now I have no desire.
