The were allowed to show video from a PR event, they don’t have the phones yet, the stupid guy with his entitled daughter was under an NDA. Big difference. Poor girl? More like stupid naive girl with a similar parent.
Damn dude, what happened to you as a child?

Had a great childhood, NDA and security are not to be scoffed at and it’s pretty naive of this guy to not expect to be fired after letting his kid post videos. I wish him the best of luck getting any job where he would be in a position of trust.

"Compared to "bulky" sizes of Apple's Plus line and Android smartphones"

Lmao, this year's Android phones already has bezel-less screens for much less, while we have to pay a premium for a bezel-less iphone.

I love Apple as much as the next guy but this is just pure bull-sh it.

I think you mean almost-bezeless

Yup, definite bezel-less screens on the Android phones alright. And no, they definitely don't look bulky compared to the iPhone X.

Funny how the iPhone had the largest bezels and now it leapfrogged the competitors.

"How it has dealt with my own real-life face is another matter". This is a tad worrying.

It's surreal how people are worried about security (it's a given FaceID will be as or more secure then TouchID, and you might need that security level either never or once its stolen -a single time-), when the real problem is if this thing introduces even the slightest inconvenience in something happening probably a hundred times a day (unlocking the phone).

I'm sure people will get used, but i do think it's inevitable that 2nd generation will be the real deal being much faster and reliable, just has happened with TouchID.

I thought TouchID in the 5S was fantastic. Yes it got better in subsequent devices, but that difference was marginal. Can't remember once thinking this isn't the real deal when I got the 5S or conversely I wish I'd waited for the 6 as TouchID is so much better. Functionally it was pretty much perfect for me and my colleagues, which was impressive given experience with other devices (IBM laptops for example).

I've upgraded every year thanks to work and in fact the bump in display res (retina as Apple like to call it) and TouchID are the two features that really stick out over the years. They're the ones where I really felt the upgrade was 100% worthwhile and the subsequent year thought "meh, nothing ground breaking like last year" by comparison. In fact given I'd had access to Android phones with High Res screens, only TouchID was the real ground breaker for me in recent years from a feature point of view.

This is the first iPhone in years I am super excited for. Can't wait!
Same here. I would've been super excited for the iPhone 7 if it had come with the airpods. Why give me an iPhone 7 with no headphone jack if there is no benefit to having it.

Macrumors keeps sending me alerts after each post which I never bother to read. I wonder if this happens to more folks in the forum?

I wonder if they have AI bot behind the scenes cranking out alerts at random? Funny if it is, sad if real people do the alerting...

I have iPhone 7 Plus 256 GB. I'm upgrading. Why? The bezel. Or lack of bezel. I do not want that oversized brick of phone the plus is. I bought it because of the dual camera. Now I get the same with small physical footprint + OLED etc. At long last.

I don't know why but I am not even remotely interested in upgrading from iPhone 7 Plus to X....
Maybe in like 2 years... too much money for animoji and what else.... I don't know.
It looks cool, but still.... not justifies the money for me.

I am curious about the opinions of those who do such upgrade- what is the reasoning behind you spending this amount of money?

While the screen might "spread out" to the same size as the 8+, the usable space for things like video or apps are not as large as the 8+, which many reviewers seem to be missing the point of. Since you can't show video partially obscured by the camera bump, the actual screen size is less then. It is nice that its overall a smaller size which is the one true benefit of near bezel free designs, but the belief that you are getting the same usable space is not true.

Anyways, I would like to read about real people use this thing in the real world in the near future.
This has been my BIGGEST concern coming from the 7 Plus that I love. I'll find out Friday I guess. But you are thinking the same as I. Reviewers just don't seem to elaborate on how the "usable" screen size compares to the Plus size. How strange.

This reviewer seems very intent on making the iPhone X look as good as possible. Which is why no one should trust the early access reviews posted before official launch day, unless they're simply looking to justify a preorder...

I love the larger displays of the iPhone Plus line and Android units like Google’s Pixel 2, but the phones are too frickin’ big. They are bulky in my pocket, and making calls is like holding a frying pan to your cheek.
Hmm, I wonder why I have rarely if ever experienced either one of these problems with my iPhone Plus... ;)

Edit: The added bulk is something you get used to and in most situations never even notice. I would really like to see a Plus-sized iPhone X next year.
Though the device itself is only slightly bigger than the standard iPhone 8, its screen is roughly the same size as that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
An honest reviewer would try to affirm that it is bigger than the iPhone 8, but smaller than the Plus instead of roughly the same size - because it definitely is smaller.

How is he allowed to post review while that poor girl's video was removed and his father was fired?

Because that girl was showing a TON of secured areas, lots of confidential information. Her video shows him logging into Apple system PC, shows other employees in pan shots, shows his Notes in notes app, possible calendar information. And finally, it wasn't an authorized video, where-as this one was authorized by Apple.

Think the aesthetics of the phone will be a pleasant surprise to most people. I know everyone’s aware the phone is all screen and smaller. But until we get them in our hands, I don’t think we can fully understand how game changing this is. The phone itself has a much smaller footprint than the plus but a similar sized screen as the plus. Usability wise......this will be huge for Apple and its users. Just think what if some way they are able to make a smaller version of the 10 next year to have 10s and 10s Plus variants. We would essentially see the footprint of the phone go back to a similar size of the 5 and 5s but still with larger screens.

I fully understand how game changing this is, I simply went to an AT&T store and held a Galaxy S8 in my hand....

Please don't fall for Apple's marketing buzz words, other than refining facial recognition, and creating talking poop emojis, they haven't done anything new or revolutionary here.

I hate where cell phone prices are headed. But, having used a couple of the latest Android flagships, the price premium for the 10 could (could) be worth it. We will find out Friday. I've had hands on experience with Pixel 2 XL, owned and returned the LG V30 and the Pixel 2. The screens on these phones are TRASH. Blue color shift with only the slightest movement on the Pixels. The LG has horrible blotching / mura effect and banding. Pixel 2 XL (LG screen) is nowhere near the quality of Samsung Note 8 or S8+. We can only hope that Apple has demanded A+ quality OLED screens for the 10.

The Pixel 2 XL and Pixel have color calibration issues that will be fixed via software, but there's interference with the NFC chip that causes ticking like a watch at all times in the earpiece. The Pixels have horrible black crush, I downloaded an app that changes the color profile and gamut and it did not fix the issue. Pixel 2 breaks / cracks at the plastic antenna line toward the top of the phone. Cheaply built products being sold at flagship prices. The only phones in the iPhone 10's league are the Note 8 / S8+. Every other phone from Android are pretenders.

With the iPhone 10 we will hopefully get A+ screens from Samsung, unrivaled customer support, great software, great ergonomics, great camera / hardware, and NVMe solid state storage. If all of this comes true, the phone is worth $999 (compared to other phones on the market...no phone should cost $999...).

It would be great if the phone would auto detect your viewing angle so you do not have to disable rotation lock all the time just to view a video aka youtube. Pain in the ass

Compared to the X the Note and Galaxy 8 - are both bezelless, notchless and 25% cheaper for actually more features. However the iPhone X has the following to draw the early adopters.
The Apple name.
X.
iOS.

Prepared to go Android, sir?
''No way, Ray - IPhone is better yeah?''
In that case then please put aside any logical thought and follow me to the sales counter. And bring your mortgage advisor with you, yes? Thank you.

Face ID is pretty fast! I was really worried about this feature but dang it's fast. See below at 4:40 mark.

I can understand why. What I can unfortunately also understand is why MacRumors has not posted an article covering that aspect of the story. Apple is well within their right to fire an employee for any reason (or no reason, under California law), but I do think it's terribly petty. Gotta make an example of people, though, right?

But MacRumors, come on – Let's have some journalistic integrity here! If you're gonna cover all the hagiographic news about Apple, you'd better write some critical pieces, too. Otherwise, right-thinking people (who are admittedly in short supply these days) are liable to think that you're just a mouthpiece for Cupertino, and you're going to lose the little journalistic respect you've ever had.

I understand it's not good business. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right? Ah, well. At least we know we're your loyalties lay... and it's not toward your readers.
