lol @ all the white people complaining about other races.

Who's complained about having diversified emoji?
How do you know the ethnicity of the people complaining?

People are upset about the lack of other improvements (which may just be unknown behind the scenes), not the concept of adding other ethnicities to the available emoji.

I honestly hate emojis.

Why oh why can't people use good ole fashioned WORDS to communicate?!?!?!:mad::mad::mad:

Says the guy who's voicing his opinion on an internet forum which is a techie way of communication rather than the "old fashioned way of communication" such as talking to people face to face. :p

to hell in a handbasket

How about video driver issues on retina macbook pros? I've had more lockups since Fall than I've had in the previous 10 years! And while they're at it, instead of screwing around with goofy emojis, how about fixing the absolutely horrendous calculator app‽ It's really an embarrassment -- the window controls don't even line up and C/AC don't work right!

Yeah, video drivers on retina MBP. Many panics after disconnecting my external 4K monitor.

But, no. We have to fix friggin' emojis.

Next up: MacOS versions code-named for Hello Kitty characters.

Mac marketing managers == lotus eaters.

My Mac has no issues connecting to an AirPort base station, but I have seen issues (especially when waking from sleep) where the system simply won't connect to WiFi, even if it shows the network available. Usually you have to turn off WiFI and turn it back on to connect or even restart your system.

HEY, that's me, exactly.

And how is it that you know that they are not fixing the bug you are concerned with? And do you not think that Apple is capable of doing more than one thing at a time? And if they aren't fixing "your bug" perhaps it's because it is your problem and not theirs. Have you reinstalled your system. Have you run a virus checker? And on and on...

Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. There's a bug in the current version of opendirectoryd, reinstalling the OS will not change the version number.
What the hell has a virus checker got to do with directory services?
Think about what you're typing before being smarmy.

No one's forcing you to use them.

The combined forces of my need to use a computer, Microsoft and the PC manufacturers are actually. This is a ridiculous story for a serious operating system.

In case these words don't make sense to anyone I will translate into emoji

Perhaps he's voicing frustration at not seeing tangible goodies headlining "what's new" articles from the other 97,998 Apple employees? In other words, relative to all what Apple can apparently deliver, THIS is big enough to headline an article? Or, in still other words: of all the things that Apple could be focused on, this may seem like awfully small stuff.

Maybe this is being reported by Brian Williams and it's all really a lie. And, yes, even two people working on this kind of crap would be too many.

The people working on drivers cannot make Emoji. The people working on Emoji, cannot make drivers.

I hope you don't become a project manager because you'll want 9 women to make a baby in 1 month.

And complain when you have a team of all men why there aren't any babies being generated!

This.

to everyone who thinks no one is working on their driver issue and working on emojis instead.

Just because this gets an news article and other things not, Apple priorities are wrong all of a sudden?
Do you want the poor developers, working on these emojis to be jobless just you dont have to read about it and think some one sure is working on the driver issue.

And, if this article was showcasing changes in the OS features that you feel actually deserve attention, I guarantee that someone would be upset over the neglect for emoji enhancements.

Really? Above all else, this takes precedence? I didn't even think emoji were supposed to look like real people, hints the unrealistic yellow skin and missing nose.

Clearly they're racist because they favor white people with Jaundice.

Yep, Apple has become THAT company. You wonder why issues like iMessage, and software updates being botched and big things aren't getting the proper attention to detail they used to? This is why.

LOL @ the people here getting worked up over an update to existing feature in OS X. Must have too much time on one's hands or just a continuing fussbudget if this bothers anyone.

Photos for OS X gently weeps.

I really want to be excited about that. I'll be curious to see how it works when released to the general public. If extensions can be implemented with apps like Pixelmator it may become quite capable.

Finally MacRumors shows the skin tone modifiers are for the people emoji. The last article on this was ridiculously bad because it made it seem like the tone modifiers were for the yellow smiley faces.

The quality of article is irrelevant - a MR problem and NOT an Apple one.

The unbelievably useless part of this article is the precedence it takes over 'real' productivity for Apple and the consumer. Consumers need better software and hardware compatibility - Sales figures need an artificial deterioration of software and hardware compatibility.

I'm probably getting old, but I don't like emoji at all. Recently I actually disabled emoji keyboard on both of my iOS devices, because I kept activating it without wanting it.

I really prefer plain text smileys/emoji.

It just shows you what the priorities are at Apple unfortunately.

really? They probably gave this to a poor little intern to do.

I am sure they locate enough resources to the bigger problems.

The emoji debate rearing its head again, eh? Standard emoji's were created yellow in order to stay race-nuetral. Hey, I'm all about equality, so if someone is feeling threatened by the current emoji's color, then why not have versions to represent all races?

Why do they have people emojii at all? I thought that's the benefit of the yellow ones.
