How about video driver issues on retina macbook pros? I've had more lockups since Fall than I've had in the previous 10 years! And while they're at it, instead of screwing around with goofy emojis, how about fixing the absolutely horrendous calculator app‽ It's really an embarrassment -- the window controls don't even line up and C/AC don't work right!

Agreed. I have had to enable Accessibility / Increase Contrast mode (10.10.2) to keep my rMBP 750M & TB Display bearable from lag issues.

I doubt there is a team of programmers eager to fix bugs that has been forced to reluctantly make emotions, guys.

Priorities at apple are so good! Emoji! so much better than a working WIFI connection

It makes some people happy. If you think people shouldn't support different skin tones, maybe they can change the people emojis to black for two years, then we get Chinese ones for two years, followed by Indian looking emojis. Would you prefer that?
Forcing differences is actual racism. They should have left them all yellow. (red for mad)

We have officially reached the end of times when people are actually complaining about the lack of multicultural ***** cartoons!

This country is becoming a pussified multicultural hodgepodge of mediocrity and stupidity

Emoji smoke screen

Don't fix my Wi-Fi problem. Can't wait to dig out the lan cable to download this BS.

Fix the damn retina lag, Apple. Yosemite is a lagfest after a few hours with a retina Mac.

Emoji can wait.

The obvious options are to remove emoji and notify senders that this will happen.

I honestly hate emojis.

Why oh why can't people use good ole fashioned WORDS to communicate?!?!?!:mad::mad::mad:

The combined forces of my need to use a computer, Microsoft and the PC manufacturers are actually. This is a ridiculous story for a serious operating system.

In case these words don't make sense to anyone I will translate into emoji

The very definition of the word pathetic...

I'm probably getting old, but I don't like emoji at all. Recently I actually disabled emoji keyboard on both of my iOS devices, because I kept activating it without wanting it.

I really prefer plain text smileys/emoji.

Is there a modifier for a transgendered, atheist, midget, of a visible minority?

Why does it seem radical to have skin tones other than white?

Why does that seem radical to you? Seriously.

----------

NO ID***, to fix serious bugs that still infest Yosemite!

Do you really think the people who make cosmetic adjustments to emojis are the same people who fix problems with WiFi? They're not.

They "forced" Caucasian emojis on everyone long before they forced different skin tones. They could've left them all yellow but that ship sailed long ago.

Why? Seriously, I'd like all you objectors to answer.
Because they are EMOJI. EMOTICONS. Root word: emotion. Not skin color, not race, not signifying "person", signifying emotion. If you think emotions are racially based, you have a problem.

Also, they should be fixing bugs, dammit!!

Who is they? I've seen very few until just the last year or two. And yes, that is what I said, "they" should have left them alone.

Just because things don't make articles doesn't mean it's not being worked on. Good gracious, this forum takes any opportunity to foam at the mouth about Apple.

I don't see any "foaming". What I see is someone who cares about Apple wishing for more from Apple... and this particular thing- while nice (I guess) for some- doesn't seem like it's that big a deal vs. our high expectations of Apple.

I suspect many of us believe that it's time or past time for a bona-fide "next big thing" from Apple... something on par with iPod, iPhone and iPad. It seems a subset of us think that might be the :apple:watch but there also seems to be another subset at least as large that think that watch is going to fall short of iPod, iPhone and iPad punch.

I believe many are looking for the flying car or a teleporter or holodeck technology from Apple (or something similarly toward the edge of imagination), so getting tinted emoji begs from some voiced frustration. It's not ranting against Apple or even "Apple is doomed"; it's Apple has set high, "magical" expectations over the last 14 years and many are longing for some more, big-impact Apple magic.

The bigger rumors flying now are a slightly thinner laptop with almost no ports, a modestly larger iPad that might be nothing more than a bigger iPad and this :apple:watch. Some of us see "incredible", "shut up and take my money" "magic" in each or all of those. Others see products that don't look like they'll bring "next big thing" impacts on par with iPod, iPhone and iPad. That latter group of others simply want Apple to bring the magic.

I don't think it's radical. I think it's silly. Because once you go down this route then you're going to have people of every possible race, religion, sexual orientation, political affiliation, vegan etc. etc. etc. ad naseum all clamouring to have their particular niche be included.

And as other have (rightly) pointed out there's so much more important things that need to be worked on.

this is a tidbit about a small division of apple's team who spent their specific skills tweaking emojis (for a very brief period), as reported on a rumor mill site.

funny how many people are acting like this story is now the homepage banner of apple.com, with a parallax explanation about the man-hours and R&D that went into it, narrated by ives.

Then why were the realistic emoticons all white?

Edited: and as I said above, this has nothing to do with fixing bugs. Why would the person working on emojis be the same person fixing your wifi?
