When will we reach Mac OS 11!?

They should have used one more cat name for 10.9 and then transitioned to OS 11 using California names.

I think the transition in naming convention using the new place names while under OS X and 10.10 being used is really odd - considering the fact that in decimal format, 10.10 is 10.1...

and "Ten Dot Ten" seems wrong...

but that's just me.

We've been over this a thousand times; 10.10 is not equal to 10.1. I totally agree with you though, about that Apple should've gone with one more cat name, and then transitioned to California based names, considering the upcoming redesign.

There's an upcoming redesign so significant that the Cats To CA transition actually makes sense? The most significant redesign in the history of OS X?

Versions are not decimal.

Versions are not decimal.

Well, I'm aware of that. Just saying though, when you're used to decimal in Excel all day, it really makes it look out of place.

I think after so many years of cats, this transition was not as smooth as it could have been. Feels like someone wasn't there to overly obsess over the naming and numbering conventions.

Maybe that's the case.

Is this your way of saying "Steve wouldn't have allowed this"? :p

He didn't make a mistake. You've fallen to what I like to call, Mob mentality... someone out there told you it sucks, so now you go around telling people it sucks, when it in fact does not.

I don't think that the wallpaper should bleed through but the images and text within the app should. Feels like it would be cleaner to me. But also... the whiteness and thinness of everything seems... too thin and makes it hard to focus on content.

Something like this: Image

 That's gorgeous! Holy crap, that's awesome!

I guess it is! :p Somehow, I think more of a fuss would have been caused over the change in the naming scheme.

I usually don't go for the "Steve would have...", but for the first time I have to admit that I think this actually would have turned out differently.

To be honest, Steve would have likely done what he had done for OS X since the introduction of the iPhone (and furthered with the iPad). That is to say, there wouldn't even be as much focus on it as there is now.

I must agree with you. I'm glad to see OSX focus. The world has not moved all mobile yet no matter how thin and light the iPad gets.

Anything is better than iOS 7 icons.

:)

Not really. iOS 7 icons make be a bit... strange but they fulfill 4 things that they needed.

Unique - the icons are very unique as they don't mimic any icons found prior (maybe maps)
Eye-catching - these icons are bright and pop
Trend setting - iOS icons now follow a simple gradient/solid color and a recognizable unique icon trend
Must look good with translucency - and they do, just check out control center and notification center when pulled over the home screen

The old ones were quite opposite since they mimic OS X (which was a good idea overall, I think)

The icons make have look different but if they "fixed" them to look like the icons on Android or various design websites they wouldn't be unique, now would they.

The safari icon could use some work though.. maybe less white?

Don't worry guys, Jony Ive will end up making OSX look far uglier then anything anybody could imagine.

OSX is WAY smaller than any other OS on the market. As I said earlier, using vector graphics could result in much smaller install footprint with infinite resolution scaling options.

Not sure what universe this is true in but it certainly isn't this one.

It seems apple feels it must make a ui change for change sake. Why can't they just leave things alone. The ui is wonderful as it it now.
