Well the only good thing to me with this new design is that i wont buy the new macbook air 12, and i will save around 1000 usd, because it will make the Macbook look horrible, I will aalways prefer the aesthetics of the maverycs

It's like saying that "Gangnam Style" sounds 40 years younger than "Abbey Road".

I don't want the haute UI design of OS X to be replaced by something flat/cool/trendy.

Flat UI is a boon for developers, so I won't worry about that.

agree,

Has it been confirmed this is what the next version of OS X will look like or is this just an artist inspired mockup ?

2nd paragraph, first sentence. It mentions that it's a series of concept images that a guy posted on a website. It also mentions the word mockup on the title.

Nothing is ever confirmed but there's only a month left :)

Amazing, people are still discussing this completely random picture as if it were a real thing

If it's accurate, Microsoft finally got its wish: Windows everywhere...even on the Mac.

Ugly. But has that ever stopped Jony Ive before?

Personally I like seeing depth. I hope at the very least that windows still stack with a shadow effect, the dock is presented as having depth, etc.

My taste - ymmv

These are pretty poor mockups in my mind. What you should be looking at is the design language in the newest iMovie/iPhoto and the Pages Numbers and Keynote. That'll show you the next move with the "flattening" of OS X. Not going to be drastic, but very subtle.

Looks terrible. Apple better leave things as they are. Actually, they should abolish tags and bring back normal labels/highlighting of files.

This is just a concept. Ive knows what he's doing. He's learned from iOS 7 what happens when you get a lot of empty space. Hopefully all he does is get rid of the useless gradients and replace it with translucent windows restricted to the app itself. (meaning you don't see the wallpaper but just the scroll window within the app, just like in iOS 7)

I just made my own mockup, which is how I think it will (sort of) look like. Keep in mind that I'm terrible at this sort of work, and it's nothing complicated. The Finder icon is horrific - I know.

I don't have a problem with a flatter design, however my issue with 99% of these IOS 7 inspired mockups is that they are all insanely bright with very little contrast.

Using gray on white for text is such a tiring trend that could not stop soon enough. It's provably worse for legibility, it makes text harder to read and it's only real benefits are purely aesthetic.

Yeah. I really like flat designs, but that looks far too toyish for me. It doesn't seem like an actual computer.

...

That would be nice but I think he is rather in love with his creation and will throw it at Mac users so they can see what great design is. Whether it works well as a UI or not. I don't think he knows much about the productivity aspect which is quite important to many OS X users. Imagine all that white on your 27" iMac. Put on your iGlasses that come with every new Mac.

But I'm hoping for the best. I'm open to almost anything as long as it just works.

When will Apple realize that blurs and translucency are as much as a gimmick as excessive skeumorphic designs? Enough with that already. I really hope they don't make OS X horrible like iOS 7.

Blurs are really nice if you do it well. Here's an example:
