OS X 10.4.1 Now Available

So far so good.

Repaired permissions before and after the update and all seems normal.
Even ClearDock is still working fine.

I had a friend call me and told me about something wrong with centon memory and this new update. On his powerbook only 1gb of his 2bg of ram was recognized by tiger, but on mine and my girlfriend's mac worked fine. Did anyone else have this problem?

WHy do some people still have trouble seeing the iPhoto color bug? I thought this bug effected all iPhoto 5.0.2 installations in tiger 10.4 and 10.4.1. Maybe that user is running an old iPhoto.

It really frustrates me because I have to talk to apple for an hour each time i call in order to get them to acknowledge that this bug exists, and then they dont know how to fix it, or even if they are working on fixing it.

Didn't work for me, no matter if I got "defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 2" or "defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 1", the mailbundle is tossed away if reinstalled, of course under value '2' the rename 'Bundles (disabled)' to 'Bundles' made Mail accept the folder but it also ignored the bundle, so no GPG for me, for now...

I may have missed a step - the 10.4.1 upgrade disables bundles completely, in addition to changing the compatibility version, so you'll also need:

defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles 1

For mail bundles that come with an installer (rather than those that rely on you manually copying the bundle under ~/Library/Mail/Bundles), this step is generally part of the installation process - so changing the compatibility version and then reinstalling the bundle would have much the same effect.

Now we're talking. That worked. Thank you! :)

The "installer" for GPGMail is just a script, and obviously didn't add that one...

Movies minimized to Dock get stuck there
and QuickTime has to be quit to remove it.

This was a problem BEFORE the update. There's a workaround, though: select the movie from the 'Window' menu of QT Player.

Ah, the fun of early adoption... ;)

Yeah, yeah, I think it's time we start to have a public beta phase before an OS launch. At least a month, because 10.4.2 (though they can get the known issues out) should've been 10.4.0
I'm not saying a system is bug free but 10.4.0 and 10.4.1 to a certain extent were very unnecessary.

No. I don't think that's necessary at all - noone made you upgrade to 10.4... You know it's liable to be buggy! Personally I have had no problems with 10.4.0 or 10.4.1 on 3 different systems, what's the big fuss?!

Nuc

Sorry if this has been already answered.

Just rename the folder Bundles (disabled) to Bundles under the Library/Mail and reinstall. Works like a charm.

I've just noticed that repairing permissions takes less than half the time it did in previous versions of OSX.

update runs great. notice no differences really but I wasn't having issues with 10.4. updates are always a good idea no matter..

Lol. So now should we accept bugs just because its a .0 release? Even bugs that prevent apps from working at all? You sound like a lot of people using Microsoft apps.
I for one think it is not necessary to have that many bugs in a release.
I never said I didn't know what I did and that it COULD have bugs but I just think those could have been prevented and are totally unnecessary.
And just because YOU don't have any problems with it doesn't mean nobody else has....

Absolutely excellent update, was suffering jerky Exposé and unable to Burn a CD, with this update I've seen increases in speed, Exposé is beautiful like it always was and Cd burning has returned :D

Just realised adding an accent above a letter has changed since Panther, does a cool thing, give it a whirl :p

Apples weakest system upgrade in a long time.... Tiger.
Bells & whistles & a not ready for prime time mess.

Your choppy expose was fixed? Mine wasn't..

:(

My reported bugs not fixed....

I have reported several bugs using the Apple Bug Reporter, these are not fixed in 10.4.1

1. Launch at log-in apps do not hide when option checked - bug id #4104319
- Appears to only affect Mail and iChat

2. Title bar shows Help twice - bug id #4104322
- Appears to be caused by DivX plugin, affects Quicktime and Automator

3. Startup Disk shown twice in System Preference spotlight search results - bug id #4104328 (shown as duplicate report)

Not Tested Yet
1. Hard drive icons on desktop move randomly - bug id #4104323 (shown as duplicate report)

If you don't like standing on the edge then take a step back. This is Apples fault, how?

It always amazes me how most of the bug or issue posts are angry ones when you know the consequences of being an early adopter.

If you find a bug, report it to Apple and let us know about it here so we can learn if it is common. But holy moly, why act like whining crybabies?

And I am not singling you out Diatribe. You were just a convenient quote.
