Good to see updates so soon.....even though hardly anybody seems to be pleased with it

Well let's see with 10.4.2 :p

Launchd still not working

Launchd still doesn't run the periodic maintenance script at the speciefied calendar intervals, it only runs them at boot. So it's back to good old cron jobs for me.

Classic fails to launch, hangs during startup.
Processors just churn away.

Movies minimized to Dock get stuck there
and QuickTime has to be quit to remove it.

Otherwise, nice update.

Dual 1.8, ATI X800 XT, 2.5 GB RAM

Finder still crashing

I was really waiting for this update, but it did not fix the main problem I have with Tiger: Whenever I right-click on an item in the Finder, it crashes! I can't live with that.
Does anybody have any ides on why that could be the case? I trashed the preferences and fixed permissions... nothing helps. And that all on a clean install.

Write zeros and reinstall!!

Rev A 12" PB

All seems well at the moment, prolonged boot up time on restart, but OK now.
Hopefully will have sorted out the Wifi disconection issue.

Seems okay

Updated about 3 hours ago and haven't crashed yet, (a regular occurrence with 10.4.0 and Macromedia Studio MX). I expect I'll still get my USB problems, doesn't like my mouse much and hates my scanner.

iPhoto doesn't crash anymore and there's no colour cast problems.

Give it time and I'll have something that really sucks me off.

Something has been changing my preference settings for certain applications lately. It will ask me if I want to accept the changes without mentioning what the changes are.

I accepted the one for Safari and it added a few websites to my bar. Ones I didn't have or want. Not cool.

The update seems fine, maybe fixed things I didn't know were problems yet.

I got that too. Its keychain letting you know that the revised application (safari for example) will take over your old keychain settings.

10.4.1 Running fine (SO FAR) on a MDD DP G4

I'm going to install it the moment i get home, and if I get sucked off by anything I'll be sure to report here .... ;)

Intersting to hear about the USB probs, particularly the scanner. I'll see if mine improves as that is about the only considerable problem I've encountered with Tiger to date.

I downloaded the update last night. It was only 19.1 m/b for me though.

To be honest I havn't noticed a change in anything. Everything seemed to be runnig fine before.

Oh well, at least I'm "up to date".

When I get home, I'll install this update. I hope it'll stop Disk utility and ipod updater from crashing my system. I think apple knows it rushed out a Gold Master for april 29th, and know it has had to release an update quickre than usual (i.e. less than a month). Thats just my two cents.

Jesus

World Clock

An interesting point for those yet to update:

If you have edited the World Clock widget (Library:Widgets:World Clock.wdgt:World Clock.js) to add a city which is not listed by default, you may lose this information. Point in case: I added the Canadian city Edmonton to be on the same time zone as Calgary - and upon 10.4.1 first boot it became Guatemala.

An easy fix, but back up your old World Clock.js and localizedStrings.js (in the language directory) if you've made lots of changes!

Hope it fixes my DVD burning issues

I have not been able to burn DVDs under Tiger and it gives me trouble with CDs. I always get a hardware error near the end of the burn. Usually most of the files if not all of them are burned but the disc is usually unreadable. My 20" iMac is less than a year old and I did not notice it until after my Tiger install. Will give it another try when I get to work.

Er, read the release notes. They disabled mail.bundles in this release because of compatibility issues.

Which, although understandable, is a bit silly, as my GPGmail.mailbundle worked flawlessly with 10.4...

I only had one bundle installed - GrowlMail - and followed andysmith's suggestion (message #38 in this thread) with success]
Didn't work for me, no matter if I got "defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 2" or "defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 1", the mailbundle is tossed away if reinstalled, of course under value '2' the rename 'Bundles (disabled)' to 'Bundles' made Mail accept the folder but it also ignored the bundle, so no GPG for me, for now...

Classic started just fine for me. Have you repaired permissions?

I had/have the same problem too, but with 10.4.0 (downloading 4.1 now). I briefly checked the Apple discussion boards - the first thread under the classic mode discussions was regarding this. Unfortunately I haven't had time to look into it yet, but he problem seems solvable.

Ran last nite, all went well on RevA G5DP2 and G3-800 iBook.
Classic starts and runs fine for me on G5, but movies minimized to dock do get stuck. Running QT7 Pro. All in all, a good update I think. Staartup time cut in half, Doom3 seems to run a bit faster too. Bumped up my settings, getting 60 down to mid 40s FPS with 1024x768, med quality, no shadows, 4xFSAA.

And I thought I had moved to Paris overnight... :p

Seriously though: Only the WorldClock.js file was reset on my machine. Both the localizedStrings.js files were unaffected (I've edited both the English and Norwegian, the two languages I chose when installing Tiger). So I "just" had to fix the WorldClock.js and Bergen showed up as a choice again...

not sure.. Ive read about others that have the problem too with iBooks and Powerboooks on the Apple Support Forums. No fixes yet.
Brightness woks fine on my 12" iBook G4. I would start looking after bugs locally... ;)

Knock on wood...

but all seems fine on my 2.5DP

Widgets seem to update much faster. Every once and a while i can catch the clock hands jumping to their new positions... but definitely much quicker than they were before... there hasn't been a change in temperature here in new york so i can't comment on the weather widget updating yet...

one thing i did notice is that in my 2 reboots since installing 10.4.1 my 2 weather widgets that were open had moved position on the screen slightly...
