Deathly Hallows Part 2 out today so at least one awesome thing is being released*! :D

*But still, Lion please.

Sure, why not? a Giant Retina Display... (approx. 32" wide by 20" height for 320DPI). It may just be extremely expensive... or maybe not...? It all depends on the demand. I would definitely buy a monitor with such resolution, if it comes decently priced.

32 inch x 20 inch?? that is big. but retina display have no meaning in large LCD, because we sit far away to view the screen, not like iphone or ipad.

it is just an operating system? what so great about waiting for OS release???

I couldn't care less about Lion. Honestly, beyond iCloud I can't think of any new features I'm looking forward to using.

I want a new mini and based on rumors to date, Apple is holding back releasing updated hardware to coincide with Lion's release.

A list provided by Computerworld sums up a timeline of earlier four OS X releases which coincidentally were released on a Friday:

--OS 10.6, Snow Leopard: Friday August 28, 2009

--OS 10.5, Leopard: Friday, October 26, 2007

--OS 10.4, Tiger: Friday, April 29, 2005

--OS 10.3, Panther: Friday, October 24, 2003.

Unlike you, some people might just be looking forward to the release of Lion... like me. I see no need for a justifiable reason. :)

I'm looking for the built-in WDE. Symantec is in the process of destroying PGP's WDE, so the sooner I can dump it, the sooner I can stop worrying about it.

do you think it will come today

Nope. Looking at the above schedule, I would say next Friday at the absolute earliest. Last week of July wouldn't be out of the question either. I would think Apple would release the date before it comes.

still hopes for today
The way I see it, the longer the delay, the better it will be. I have seen too many "rushed to market" products this past year. And I'm not talking just Apple.

I would be perfectly satisfied if they didn't release Lion till the first or second week of December. Apple would really look good if they do this one right.

I think that Lion is gonna be the most crappy Mac OS X ever for a number of reasons... No more frontrow, no more isync, no more rossetta (ok rosetta is not so important, but it's still a miss), but most of all no more spaces and expose! This is definetely a downgrade compared to Snow Leopard! So I'm gonna stick with it and if Apple is gonna continue with these "ideas", I will seriously consider to stop buying Apple computers! Believe me I'm really sad about that! Thankfully my 2 mbps will continue to provide for me, but I worry for the future Apple Mac OS X releases! :(

So, I think that all of us should start complaining to the Apple forums, by saying what we actually need from an OS. iOS is very good for touch devices, but I think that Mac OS X can offer to iOS whereas the opposite is not certain. Some iOS ideas are useful, but not so important, whereas Mac OS X functionality should not be killed by fancy ideas like full screen apps and mission control. Ok all of these ideas are not bad, but I don't understand why they should kill some of the most useful features of Mac OS X.

This isn't about how a product is being rushed, the product will not change the way it is now to the time of release. It has some to do with releasing the OS along with other products, it also has to do with fiscal earnings.

Not sure if this is accurate or not:

AppleInsider reported: Although Apple is believed to have had some ambitions of launching Lion this week, at least one person familiar with the matter said earlier in the week that last minute concerns with one of the system’s new features (app Resumes) would likely cause a minor delay.

There’s been rumors now that a debugged Golden Master version of Lion ‘GM2′ will be launched soon with the fix for these last minute bugs.

How is it possible to completely trash and OS before it is even released? Geez, don't you think that calling for a mass protest is a bit pre mature?
I am personally looking forward to the update. I am sure if Apple has removed some features, they have a plan on how to substitute it the new OS.

You are assuming 'all of us' agree with you. 'We' don't because we aren't all 12.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sent around a second GM candidate first; there are a bunch of little bugs and it still lacks that "snappy new OS" performance for me.

I don't mind little bugs, they're a lot easier to deal with than big ones. The days of the "snappy new OS" are a thing of the past now that we're in Jobs proclaimed post PC era.

iCloud isn't part of Lion. It won't be released at the same time.
