My guess is people who are crazy like us, are hitting reload constantly and slowing down the server. lol Maybe it will drive apple crazy enough and they will go ahead and release it.
For me, the App Store is still down. Has been for about 30 minutes. Although, I'm skeptical about it being released tonight anyways.
Yeah probably just a fluke, I am EST zone and it never went down for me...its 6 after. Def not there...
Now it's being reported the download is 6GB & the Apple Store will have it on USB Stick. Therefore they expect huge lines as usual. It makes for good press & mainstream news reports. All the elements that Steve thrives on.
If it's coming at midnight, I would expect it to be released simultaneously for all territories rather than each time a local midnight comes around. Much easier to do it that way.

Mac App Store little spinning wheel thing at top left, well...... it just spins, no loading of any content. Since yesterday (Tuesday) evening, in the UK. I can imagine they are upgrading the servers or something in order to release Lion.

I am sure the OP meant noon ET, which is 9 AM Apple time, when they have almost all their events and launches. I'm guessing he meant that it would be Wednesday morning in Cupertino, but Wednesday afternoon in the east.

Plus, I was really doubting a midnight release. Especially a midnight EST release, since its still Tuesday Night Apple Time.
... Sidenote: PST will forever be known as "Apple Time" to me now. I approve of that so much.
In Korea right now, can't connect to either the US or the UK app store. Probably server updates and whatnot going on behind the scenes. Still predicting a Thursday launch.
