Haha I guess we'll see tomorrow if this guy is correct then :p Unfortunately I highly doubt his prediction based on the lack of a source but we'll see :)

I heard Steve forgot to say coming in July...2012

Yea, it's not coming out wednesday. It'll come out Thursday, July 14. A day after I'm leaving… GREAT. (i'm not taking my mbp with me…) Just my luck.
Hopefully it comes out wednesday at 12 AM PT so I can download it and have it ready for when I come back, but I'm highly doubting that.

You're better off waiting - let a few days go by so you can see what issues come up.

It's going to be the 14th. You can bank on that.

The Apple stores have been scheduled for an overnighter on the 13th (the night of the 13th, into the morning of the 14th). They won't be having this overnighter for no reason whatsoever.

I will pose you this reasoning: Why release Lion & whatever else before the overnighter? What will the overnighter then accomplish? A post-release prep?

So my point is exactly this: The release (at least for in the physical stores) will be for the 14th whenever the Apple stores open on the 14th.

Why do they need an overnighter for Lion, when you can't buy it in any Apple store, only in the Mac App Store online?

Oh, this sounds like a fun game! *Puts hand to forehead* I'll say...Friday, 15 July at 12 a.m. EST (as in you wake up on Friday and you can get Lion).

I was under the impression that Lion was going to be a download only purchase. There's no cd to buy, so what would you buy in the actual store? A download code maybe? So why have a midnight session for sales of an item which is not tangible in the first place unless they're releasing something in addition to Lion?

Thought?

How do you know Lion won't come out tomorrow on the MAS and the overnight is for new MBAs/MPs...
Just sayin'.

Because Apple is holding back hardware until Lion is released.

It's not a midnight sales session. Apple often schedule their retail store staff to work over night the day before a big release so they can get everything ready in the stores. In this case it is probably promo material for Lion as well as upgrading the demo machines to Lion. They also have to be briefed about the new release.

I wish people would stop posting stuff like this as though they know straight from a viable source that Lion is coming out.

If you're going to do so much as tell us the date then quote your bloody source.

Idiot.

Even if no new hardware comes out, they still have to load lion up on all there demo units. that could take a while..

Lets hope that he/she is an insider and can not revel his source without being fired or getting in trouble. With today's App Store issues there is a good chance that he/she might be right.

You know what, you could be right about this. The App Store hadn't gone down when I posted that so fingers and toes crossed...

Ok. So the consensus of this thread is that at 12 AM PT on Wednesday (July 13), Lion will be available in the App Store?

Well i for one am hoping it will take some time before they release it; end of july perhaps so they have time for a GM2 or just release an updated lion different from the current GM.

Right now performance is so sluggish and bugs are so prominent that i won't be upgrading if retail = gm (and i'm not talking about the new features here or if they are any good, just the fact that GM feels more like a beta release rather then a GM).

Really? I've played with the GM and I think it's both stable and polished.
