I am planning to install it this evening. But one question....

When I do a clean re install for whatever reason using the built in restore partition, I install mountain lion and then mavericks on top of it?

Or can we just somehow burn a dvd of mavericks and do a clean install?

And kudos to Apple for the Free!..

Wow!

It feels like my good old 2008 macbook has a new graphics card:D
Animations are definitely smoother!
already enjoying this update within the first 5 minutes

Just 2GB more to go of the download and I'm ready to install, can't wait, OS X Mavericks is nice update and I like the direction Apple are taking OS X in.

You won't need to re-install 10.8 again, 10.9 should take care of your restore partition when you do the install of 10.9.

you have to have lion to upgrade??
i thought it was snow leopard and newer??

i have snow leopard... do i need to upgrade to lion first then mavericks??

or can i go straight from SL to M?

I thought I heard him say you can upgrade even if u're still using Snow Leopard! Why does the article say Lion and above?!

MacRumors does not like people who run SL.

I am downloading it on SL, and the requirements say 10.6.8 or higher. I assume the story here just made a mistake.

Here's a question. Currently running Snow Leopard with WindowsXP Pro on a Bootcamp partition. Is XP supported in the Mavericks version of Bootcamp?

I am trying to install Mavericks but for some reason it won't work. When I go to "Software update", it says "downloaded" next to the Mavericks update but it hasn't been installed. How do I install it after downloading? I assumed it would be done automatically...

Just curious, what applications have people noticed that don't work properly with 10.9? Maybe we can start compiling a list.

Look in your Applications folder.

Anybody doing a clean install?

This isn't meant with any sarcasm, but I haven't done a clean install since I used Windows! It's all good man...dload away :)

My oldest Mac (dually G4, I've never done a clean install). Works fine :)

SL to M if your computer supports it.
