apple tv 2

Will the apple tv2 work with the mavericks osx with airplay display? I don't see the airplay icon in my top bar.

C2D Macs do not support airplay mirroring.

Hi,

How long does it take for the "Optimizing Your Mac" to finish after the Mavericks upgrade? It's been like that for around for more than an hour.

I didn't see that at all on my mac. It's seemed much slower after the upgrade too.

Pepper in Google Chrome is VERY glitchy and prone to freezing, the Youtube5 extension in Safari doesn't work anymore, time machine backups freeze the system during completion, mounting network shares pulls up a finder window that shows Macintosh HD->Volumes. SMB to my Synology NAS no longer works.

Spotlight is MUCH faster though. It seems performance is decent as long as Chrome isn't running.

Just got home after a night out with the girlfriend, starting the download now.

"1 Day, 20 Hours to go."

Bring 'er on!

Just got home after work and start the download now.

2 weeks, 10 Hours to go. WTF going on

About 8 hours downloading.... 29 MB so far

It's time now for Asia and Europe. You guys have to wait. Go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning, try again.
Americans tststs...

:p:D

It's free because it didn't anything worthwhile. No body wants to pay for new backgrounds.

hum, have you actually used it before saying this.
My mac is performing faster than before, plus i have never seen a mature guy complaining for anything free

There's a 30 second sleep delay when Google Chrome is open.

Anyone else noticing that?

I finally installed mavericks fresh on a second partition (split the main hd in to 2 with disk utility). Took about 30-45 minutes. ABSOLUTELY NO SLOWDOWN. Just not sure what the big deal is. Would be good to see a list of what exactly 200 improvements were made over 10.8 or 7. Besides tabs in finder I'm not what else is really useful.

If anyone was holding onto iTunes 10.6.3 because they don't like the loss of Cover Flow, be prepared to find that Mavericks automatically forces you to upgrade to a newer version of iTunes without so much a peep about it. I don't recall Mountain Lion replacing my iTunes version when upgrading from Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro.

Personally, I don't know why they can't offer a good viewing mode for movies. The icons are too big and scrolling doesn't move very fast in that mode. List shows a good alphabetical style list, but if you turn artwork on, they start getting spaced very far apart. Cover Flow allowed a list that showed a bigger artwork at the top of the screen. I'd be OK if they just showed the artwork off to the side in a box or something when you clicked on a list item. I've suggested such things months and months ago but Apple doesn't give a crap what we think of the GUI.

That has happened since Chrome 30 (and it seems 31 has the same problem), not related to Mavericks.

Try to get Chrome 29 (I had to get it from a backup I had because I didn't find any on the internet).

On topic:

I'm anxious to install it!

I'll do a fresh install but will wait one or two weeks to see the reaction of the first-installers (if there are a lot of bugs, etc) and also to have a quicker download speed, I don't want a full day download.

Multi-monitor behavior IS much improved (having a menu bar on the other monitor is great), but if you use a side-position dock bar, it stays on only one of the monitors. That's not a huge deal since you only really need it to start a new program or whatever, BUT the problems arise when you use FULL SCREEN mode. While it's true you can now keep doing things on the other monitor while in full screen (big PLUS), you'll find your dock is not accessible if it's on the monitor that is in full screen mode.

The bottom positioned dock slides over to the other monitor when you put the mouse down at the bottom center of the screen, but it doesn't move over if you use a side-positioned dock. It will also NOT move if you have a bottom positioned dock but have the position of a second monitor in an arrangement where it is not directly side-by-side. For example, I have mine diagonal in order to force the dock to stay on the primary monitor in front of me rather than the secondary monitor off to my left, but I like the dock on the left side of the center monitor so it's the only way I could find to keep it there.

So despite big improvements in functionality for multi-monitor support, there are still some annoying limitations. It would be nice if Apple simply had a dock on each monitor (like they have for the menu bar now). This would solve all the issues.

I got it last night and I'm finding it to be a little more sluggish than before (MBP 2012 2.3ghz 16GB RAM). Finder tabs are nice though

Can anyone help me? I'm already on OS X 10.9 GM (13A603) and the app store detects it but I want to download the installer anyway because i want to own a digital copy of Mavericks. When I press continue to download the installer anyway it just loads but the downloading doesn't start. Does anyone know why? thanks :)
