Any idea on when the redemption codes will work?

Edit -- And has it been proven that you can make USB install disks for Mountain Lion as well? Would be very helpful to get a few test iMacs up and running with it tomorrow!
search the web, it's the same way with Lion using Disc Utility

Any good guides for installing it clean? Or can you do that with this version?
I dont like to upgrade.

Why $19.99 and not $20.00? What's the catch?

Yes, but why $19.99 and not $20.00? what's the difference? Is it that $19.99 just looks cheaper?

It's marketing. Its less then $20 by a fraction however it has a positive phycological impact on the consumer.

It is just £13.99 in the UK, that's a brilliant price.

I am hoping in vein I feel for an iMac release tomorrow.

So they can advertise that it's "under $20.00". :D

Actually... "a penny for the Old Guy..." It's a fireworks allowance.

I'm pumped!

If Mountain Lion is to Lion as Snow Leopard was to Leopard, I'll be very very pleased!

It wasn't about new features for me; although they are welcome :) It's all about the under-the-hood tweaking that they did. SL ran sooo much smoother than Leopard...

Bring it on! :apple:

Why does everyone want to download ML as soon as it's available. Hasn't anyone learned that the servers are going to bog down or crash and people will discover untold numbers of bugs the first few weeks?

I'm waiting until at least a week after 8.1 is released. In the mean time, Lion works just fine.

Good. Time to make sure I Time Machine my computer tonight. Would be a good save off point until Mountain Lion comes out. (Makes me wonder if they'll do some sort of automatic update for Bootcamp as well)

Yup going to wait a week or so until the bulk of the downloading is done and any kinks are ironed out.

I'd be happy with 1/2 of that $19.99 going towards security steps to safeguard Macs from further malware/virus breaches. But, we know that security from viruses and malware is not the major upgrade here.

Apple should be well-equipped enough (manpower, brainpower and $$$) to provide us full anti-virus protection without users sensing a need to download 3rd party software. Granted, attacks are few and Apple provides a certain level of security already. But, increasingly Mac users are going to 3rd party companies for anti-viral protection due to the concerns from this past year.

On a user level, I miss the days when Mac users were fewer... and concerns over security were nearly a 100% Windows user concern. I think we all know that as the user base grows... the malware/viral attacks will increase.
