I have Leopard, but I'll be buying Snow Leopard for $129 instead of $29 because it's worth way more than that to me, and a healthy markup is what allowed Apple to become what they are, so I will continue to do my part. Thanks for your hard work, Apple. Keep it up.

Please tell me you're kidding.

AMEN! I just asked earlier this week if there was still a chance we could see "Marble" in Snow Leopard. This is giving me hope that it actually might still happen.

It is not that hard to reskin is it? It doesn't require a lot of bug testing or time etc. Or am I wrong? Anyone here have any wisdom to offer me on the subject?

I think these new changes look very good! :D Please Apple just make it ALL CONSISTENT, not all mismatched like it is right now with flat, and aqua, and everything else. :(

I do a bit of work in HyperCard, and getting an user-friendly interface for a seemingly simple Tic-Tac-Toe game took me months to complete.

Damn that HD icon is HUGE. Are you having a problem finding it on your desktop.

I have mine the same size on my Mac mini. It is 128x128.

SL seems to be making excellent progress. Too bad I don't have an extra machine available to test. If only my white MacBook wasn't being used heavily by my Dad. 2/3 machines in daily use in our house are macs. Go Apple!

.wmv Playback.

Was it in previous builds? I can't remember.

Edit:
Nevermind. :( Turns out I still had Flip4Mac, but it wasn't visible through spotlight or the likes.

Snow Leopard Final Purchase

Will the retail version of Snow Leopard, when it is available in September, allow those running the developer preview to upgrade straight from the beta?

Will they then need to downgrade to Leopard, and then upgrade from 10.5 to the retail build of Snow Leopard?

Or you can just launch Disk Utility straight from the retail SL disc, wipe + partition the drive and install SL. No need for downgrade. I assume most people who aren't developers. but got their hands on SL, and need to upgrade to retail SL knows about using Disk Utility from the retail OS disc.

bootup time with new build

I've installed the new build of snow leopard on my macbook (the white one) and i've noticed that it takes A LOT longer to boot up than with regular leopard. Anyone else have this issue?

Snow Leapord is gonna smoke Win7 like a fine Cuban

Some how i disagree with you.... as long as finder sucks balls compared to windows explorer, and as long as quicktime x doesn't have video brightness adjust, i will completely disagree with you.

The simplest most basic and very essential functions are lacking from a lot of apple software. It's like a mug not having a handle. so what if the coffee is good, i would still love to have a handle on my mug... Please give us options apple... let us place anything on the dock in any location and not just apps. I want to put a folder next to finder icon... won't let me.. i want to cut and paste folders with append not overwrite, please give us a tick box in settings to let us do that if you don't want to make it default. and frikin return brightness adjust, I want to see all the dark spots in movies to see how the directors ****ed up. i don't want to see just black in a dark spot in a movie i want a fine adjustment to have a perfect view. Windows 7 has all these features and are well implemented. so does hackzor's linux.

Please please. it's not a lot to ask for. Yes i would like cream in my coffee too. Give us more UI options too, stop being like north korea's **** stain.

I think I speak for everyone on this site by saying that this is a sad attempt to match the perfection of Windows 7 . It can not be done. Mac falls short once again. HA Ha:p

Match what? Sorry, my latest Webster's dictionary has Microsoft and Windows as synonymous to BSoD, virus-ridden, low-quality, overpriced, Apple-copying-and-failing, and monopoly.

Mac OS is missing cut/paste, but Windows is missing stuff Mac has as well. Not just one-sided. The dock is divided, so you can only put non-apps on the right, since most people are right handed.

BTW, in Quicktime 7, you CAN adjust brightness in a movie/video. Just go to Window > Show A/V Controls. Or simply Cmd+K. The video brightness adjustment bar is the top-right corner.

In that case, if they don't want to lose their files, system settings, and applications, how will they upgrade from the preview to the final retail build?

some one has an inferiority complex .........do you have a mac?

I like to solve problems. You like to create problems. Let's agree to disagree.

Windows is such a mess with the DLLs, Registry, and tremendously huge gaping holes in the architecture that allow for viruses. If I have to sacrifice cut/paste to not have DLLs, registries, and viruses, I think that's fair. Each OS has disadvantages and advantages, if you are too blinded to see that, then let's stop here. I'm not saying Windows nor SL is perfect, just that SL is farther ahead.

Stacks are Still Broken

Is there any word on when stacks will work the way that they where demoed before the actual release of leopard? I mean right now stacks are just a modified front end to folders in the dock. Instead of being a new function it actually makes things harder and more cluttered.

I want arbitrary selection of stuff and then just drop it in the dock to create a "stack". Just like SJ did in his keynote showing off the prerelease of leopard 2yrs ago. This would be so much more useful than what we are currently stuck with.

IMO they should have left folders in the Dock alone and Added the "stacks" functionality as shown. Instead they compromised on this and we ended up with folders that didn't' work right in the doc for several updates.

Anyway this just pisses me off that this is not going to be fixed in SL.

First, Apple intended for these private betas to be ... private. The developers know that putting all of their files into SL beta is a bad idea. That's why they don't. What you're saying is not a problem for SL's intended audience, but for people that shouldn't have gotten the beta in the first place.
