Works partially only - try to export photos to a Dropbox folder....you will get double files with "exporting" extension. Once you delete it you will lost both original and exporting files.

BTW. Why Apple go that way - why I cannot just select photos and then click copy from context menu?

Or select File > Export ?

Just like iPhoto?

I was on the 20GB iCloud storage plan, and had paid $10.99 for the year for it. I have now had to upgrade to the 200GB plan at $3.99 per month. Does anyone know if Apple will prorate my previous pre-payment for the remainder of the year?

I believe they will when you do the upgrade

----------

previously there was an ability to upload photos to the web through the iphoto library. It seems this option is missing or am I not looking in the right place?

Two ways... a shared photo album (shared photo stream) can still have a public web site link - select a shared album you control and click the little people icon

Or the standard share sheet.. there's a flickr option for sharing and presumably there'll be a ton of additional third party share extensions over the next few months

I'm real disappointed, is this all? It's sort of re-make of something bad from the beginning, just adding some small features and sort of new design..That's it!

What about using same photo library within multiple users on a network? What about taking Aperture to next level???

Apple is getting to become a slow company and they will regret it soon ...

Apple is doooooomed OMG!

Yosemite Boot Bug is still not fixed on this release.

What's the specifics of this bug?

Is there a way to delete ALL photos on iCloud photo library? My last upload pre-Photos app has screwed up some dates and times and I'd like to correct that by starting afresh. Anyone know how?

How large was your library? Also, please post an update when your uploading is complete to let everyone know how long it took. I'm starting with a 40-50GB Aperture library, so I'm a little nervous about the amount of time it will take to complete the uploading process.

Back with my update. Just finished the whole process at 2am in the morning, so it was a total of around 14 hours to upload 4700+ photos, 30 gigs big. Three hours of it was spent on "adding" items and "downloading" items.

Honestly I thought it was was going to take a few more hours longer. Also, I've selected "Optimize" but it hasn't affected my storage space yet. The option states "Originals will also be stored on this Mac if you have enough storage space", so I assume it will just begin to intelligently delete originals once I start to run out of hard drive space.

This is scaring me a bit. Reading through this thread and looking at the times it is taking to perform some of these functions is making me hesitate now, and for the final release.

While I won't be uploading my Aperture Library, I use iCloud photos stuff only for my phone, I will eventually want to convert it. If it is taking this long to do things on smaller libraries, what is something like mine, 450GB and roughly 80K photos going to take? Is Photos even anywhere near capable of handling that large a library?

Did I read number 2 right? You just drag the photo wherever you want to put it... drop it. Not sure how they can make it any easier.

will this mean itll be the same full image?

is this the easiest way to get a picture from photo into an open indesign document? ive always kept a separate copy of all of my pic just for that reason.

Comparing upload times without knowing the Internet connection speeds is not super helpful. Look at your own connection and do some rough math about uploading that size of library. I think your library size is probably close to the edge of the bell curve, so any cloud storage might not be for you. 1TB is $20 per month from Apple, but if you have a 40 down 10 up DSL then patience is your friend.

I'm not getting the magnification effect, like the one shown in the video, when I scroll over the thumbnails. Also the media tab for selecting photos in the finder is missing. Is anyone else having these issues?

Apart from that a nice replacement and improvement over iPhoto but not quite yet for Aperture, its' feature set currently lies between the two. It's early days though, hopefully it will become more powerful in time.

For me it's great, speed and overall performance is now great!

And which year and model do you have?

Since when did Speedtest require flash?! No deal. I'm not downloading flash again. Who still uses Flash!

700+ photos, videos, slo motion....all took 20 min and is now on all my devices!Great job  and also my macbook air 2012 is more responsive at all!

What is the average size of you library, people?

Do people really have such small libraries..?
I would have thought in the 1,000s..?

What is the average size of you library, people?

Mac: 8-core MacPro, End 2008, 3TB HD, 6GB RAM (current bottleneck)
Aperture: about 30.000 Pics / 323GB / 98% RAW

No way I am ever going to put this in some cloud!

Martin

The Photos app has worked well for me over the last couple of weeks (although uploading a 100GB iPhoto library over a 3Mb DSL connection was tedious to say the least.)

The ONE issue that I can't seem to resolve is syncing. All photos show up on my iPhone as they are designed to. I can also delete photos on my iPhone, and have them show up in the "recently deleted" folder. However, I am completely unable to delete anything in the Photos app. When selecting a photo to delete, the app responds with "deleting this photo will remove it from all synced devices." After hitting OK, the app does...nothing.

I've restarted my Mac, and everything else you should do. My iPhone is working fine, but even photos I've deleted on the cloud are STILL on the Photos app.

Anyone else seeing this?

Some questions from early beta users

Waiting for the stable 1.0 version (i've a very large database of quite 1TB data ) i've some questions:
- i shoot RAW + JPEG: how these files will be considered by the new Photo app ? One only file or 2 ?
- there'll be always the choice to downgrade (months by months ?) from a larger plans to smaller one ?
- leaving the full version of each photo in iCloud and the smaller one on desktop what happens when want to edit a photo ? Photo app automagically download the full version on desktop ? Or we can edit only the smaller one on desktop and then automagically the editing will be upload to iCloud and applied to the full version ?

1TB can be not enough: any news about larger plans (hope also Apple will release better price ...).

Frankly i'm disappointing that Apple not creates a BACKUP of our iCloud photo library: i really hope Apple can add this important feature ASAP.

Photos from Mac uploaded to cloud not showing on devices

So, I went through the long tedious process of having my photos uploaded to the cloud, but they are not showing in the photos app on my iPhone. Could this be because photos from my iPhone are still uploading to the cloud (turned on iCloud photo library for iOS same time as OS X)?

Products

Does PHOTOS allow you to make Calendars and print Books, like iPhoto?
If so, are they any different?

So does it look like WiFi dropping multiple times a day has been sorted or not?

Also anyone who had the bluetooth speaker audio lag, mainly in flash video, has that been sorted out?

Ahh. I should have known. That word is used entirely too much, and in the wrong context.

Yes, sorry. I was busy and chose an ambiguous word; non-beta would have been best (GM is good in context but has a number of other meanings).

What is the general stability of the release? I don't use my home Mac for work, but is it good enough for that type of use?

So far it behaves pretty stable, although I had today Mail using all of CPU power for about three hours that drained my battery almost empty.

Oh, and I see photos agent using a lot of power showing in battery menu
