So can you do a clean install without a USB, by going into recovery and erasing and then using the internet to get yosemite from there or something? Absolutely no guide online mentions clean install of a new mac OS without doing the USB thing.

Please be patient

… is this not going to work via Internet Recovery? …

The message in your photograph is clear: try again later.

… It's going to be Mavericks.

For a 5.33 GB download, I guess the same.

Here, the reported download size is 5.16 GB.

If you're not sure, run a one-line command Terminal:

Code:
find $TMPDIR/../C/com.apple.appstore -name receipt -exec grep com.apple.InstallAssistant.Yosemite '{}' \;

If a matching 'receipt' file is not listed, whilst downloading, then it's probably the wrong app.

Am I the only one who noticed that the video review had a glaring error when talking about Spotlight? It said that the preview is new to Yosemite. But Spotlight has given previews of documents for several versions of OS X, you just had to hover the mouse pointer over the particular search result to get the preview to pop up. Such a big mistake doesn't impress me with the reviewer's knowledge of OS X...

Yosemite FAIL

I feel this is the biggest release since leopard - Great new design, awesome new features - lets hope it has the performance of Snow Leopard

I didn't even know you can do a clean install via Internet Recovery.. so you're telling me you can skip the USB boot altogether and install clean? (Assuming of course Yosemite is online today)

If it goes live, then yes, at least that's my current understanding provided someone else doesn't chime in with more info otherwise.

I can get to this point with no OS installed.

Apple hates me...

still not available (and I'm in the U.S. using a U.S. iTunes account...)

Checked the direct link too, says "not available in the US store"...

Haha, I was going to do the long route and erase and replace via USB Boot. Let me know if Internet Recovery works for you! You'll be saving me an hour or so :)

You will be downloading it while in recovery mode, during which time your computer is unusable. Also will have to download again for each computer, or if something goes wrong and you want to do it again. That's why the USB method is recommend, you download 1 time, and your computer is in a usable state till your ready.

I don't think it's available for anyone yet. Be patient.

Appreciate the info buddy. In no rush for Yosemite. I had the Public Beta through August and my Parallels is smooth with Mavericks.
