Is downgrading really a good idea after upgrading? I heard usually that creates problems.

It can, but if you roll back your home directory along with the OS it shouldn't be a problem.

The issue is newer version of the OS and apps making changes to their data stores that are incompatible with previous versions.

Thanks for the reply. I will download full version then create a usb installer. This is getting my heart rate up in anticipation. Way more fun then waiting for a Windows upgrade!

Just redeemed GM Candidate 3 from Apple Dev Center which said build 14A388a but after installation has finished it says build 14A389 so I got the final build or what?

I'm guessing the best place to look will be in the Featured section of the App Store as I'm sure they'll make a big thing about it.

How long until I can create a USB installer to do a true clean install?

I don't see Yosemite available yet unless I'm looking in the wrong place

I don't. But that's a good tip.

I dunno if that means you just don't use Time Machine or that you don't have a back up at all. I used to but then I bought myself a cheap 500GB portable USB hard drive and I just use Time Machine with that. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind about your files.
