Hm, the pulldown menu is far too transparent for my taste. That looks worse than the too transparent menus in one of the previous OS X versions (could have been Leopard) before Apple backpedaled after severe user complaints and toned down that effect.

You can turn off transparency....system pref/accessibility/display/reduce transparency...

Just installed on my macbook (late 2009 2.26 white unibody,4gb mem)..runs better then mav 10.9.4!

So far so good...

I installed Yosemite on my primary Apple, only cause I own one so far and not use it for work, still getting used to it and trying to stay away from Windows as much as I can:) It's a Macbook Air 13" from May 2014, the newest one, basic configuration. I've tried every Apple app, everything works great. Office works.

And it looks astonishing:)

Wouldn't try it if it was my work horse, but glad I did cause it's every bit as exciting as upgrading from iOS6 to iOS7, of course if you like that new design.

Different times. Apple was catering to an audience back then which had a higher percent of design professionals as part of its user-base than now.

Are you running Microsoft Office 2011? Any issues. I have 2011 MacBook Air / i7 / 4GB RAM / 256GB SSD, and I use Outlook heavily - and currently running 10.9.4 - any issues with Office / Outlook?

Yes, Office 2011. I don't use Outlook at all so there's no way I can check if it works entirely, but it starts with no problems, shows everything correctly, looks ok. No problems with other Office apps that I use, Word, Excel, PowerPoint work well.

So far, I like it. I hope the slow performance (especially spotlight) is due to the beta status. I just noticed one odd thing. My language is German. So when I was quite confused when my weather forecast was a mixture of German and English... :D

(Temperature is in Celsius, not Fahrenheit)

Expose don't work!!!!!!!!

I use it religiously without it Yosemite is useless for my work I need to be able to get to multiple windows instantly and Exposé allows me to!!! They need to fix that.

The only real legit beef I've seen so far is the retina vs no retina. This is designed for that retina display!

Your living in the past - Expose is not longer used - it's year sold - was replaced in Mac OS X 10.7 by Mission control.

I've been using it since last night, and there are no issues so far other than an iTunes 12.0 display issue that I subsequently found a solution for. I got the e-mail, it downloaded and installed flawlessly

I just don't have any idea what this "dark mode" is or where it can be accessed.

Do any of you have any insight into this issue? I couldn't find it in System Preferences.

Everything good for now

I've been using it last night and this morning before work. Everything as reaally smooth.

Just one smal bug reported: in mail, accounts, advanced preferences, at leas in Portuguese, the options are not described in full. They stop mid sentence.

Other than that, loving Yosemite.

Trim support for non aapl ssd works, took a little work around. BUTS ALLS GOOD. love the new look.

I have been a little irritated the last 2 years on Apple. Nothing really new... iOS 7 I learned to love. Now iOS 6 seems old compared but still more classy.

But Yosemite? I ********** LOVE IT. It's beautiful, it's fast, it's ... I normally don't use that word - but it's COOL :)

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Only Finder has some small bugs it seems. Safari has lost the "reset Safari" option in the menu. Thats sad. Else everything is beautiful !!!

Head to System Preferences > General. There, you’ll see a new checkbox called “Use dark menu bar and Dock.” When unchecked, the OS X theme will remain the default white that we’ve all come to know and love.

Thanks,.. Not sure why I didn't see it first time I looked.

Okay really not that impressed; I don't see what all the fuss is about.

More images

Swish.....:p

Of course, it would look better on Retina, since any OS moving forward would be less and less appealing on non-Retina, that's the whole idea, even though it works.

There needs to be an intensive to upgrade those older Mac's after all....

Transparency looks ok

Expose proper hasn't worked in years. However, what they call "Mission Control" and "App Expose" both work on my machine the way they they do in Mavericks. I use a track pad and 4-finger swipe up reveals all apps, windows, desktops and 4-finger swipe down reveals app specific windows.

Weird window behavior

I just installed the Yosemite beta on my main machine after having tested DP1-4 on a separate partition.

Everything seems to be as expected, however, I am getting this strange window frame every now and then. It first appeared in
System Preferences → Keyboard → Text
and after that is persistent to all System Preferences windows.
Anyone got any idea what exactly that is (yes for debugging the layout of some sort... but why do EYE see it?!). And more importantly how to get rid of it?!

I agree that Yosemite looks horrible. The new features are great but damn they dun-goof'd that UI. It may the the first time ever I've let the look of an OS stop me from using it. OS X used to have a professional shine to it I liked.

What? No it didn't. If anything, I've heard of people turned off by OS X in general because of how dumbed down and childish it looked (I can't even imagine what those people would think now.)

Between this and iOS 7, I don't understand that complaint that it doesn't look "professional." I don't think some of these people even know what it means, they just assume it's synonymous with "icons that don't look like illustrations."

Enjoy living in the past.

First impressons

That USB installer didn't take long to come out.

I gotta get to the *new* app (Apple calls in a window which expands, but i don't care)

To me, its till an app just for searching via spotlight, which expands to a window.

Which this gives you a vast amount of info, i would say its not needed.... This is the idea of "putting all your eggs in one basket",, It;'s just too much chocolate... I'll get sick...

Its too much "in your face"

While you can move it around, that's not really the point, its still an app per say. While 10.9 Spotlight, not as much info, and less cluttered..

It's almost like in Yosemite, Apple WANT'S you to see it..

Well.. I see it, and i hate it.

(I find it odd when you mention "beta software" you never hear Apple say the words "VM"), they always say second machine, which would imply "physical machine"

Running on my ancient MacBook Pro from 2007 (oldest supported laptop). No longer a primary machine, so I figured to give it a whirl. Originally came with 10.4.10. I thought for sure Mavericks was the end for this, but I guess not!

Current performance seems akin to Mavericks, which isn’t bad. Haven’t noticed any other issues yet.

It's great that Apple is willing to keep the Santa Rosa MBPs chuggin along. :apple:

This is great news! My old 2007 Macbook Pro is still alive and kicking! I will upgrade that to Yosemite on the official release.
