Snow Leopard must be installed for Mac App Store access

C'mon, Apple. 10.6 Snow Leopard was a 2009 release. Are you telling me you cannot figure out a way to upload OS X overhauls without constantly installing an old OS (and over it) for the App Store? Recovery partition still needs an install. Since 10.7, OS X is just buggered. SMH

It's downloading for me.. Though says it'll take an hour! Interstingly, It let me update to iTunes 12, and that's been running perfectly fine..

I have an MBA with only about 15gig left on the 120gb hard drive. So, with a 8GB requirement, does this mean I will have less than 7 after install? Or, does it just need 8GB for install and then I get it back?

Also, after backing up my 32gb iPad for the iOS8 install I lost a ton of space. I know it's not 100% on topic, but how do I delete that backup of my iPad on my MBA?

As you are a very busy poster on this forum, I wonder if you actually ever used an Apple product, you seem to think that you know a lot about other companies' offerings, but amazingly little about Apple's products and services.

Mac Mini, iPad Air, iPad 2, Apple TV, and had the iPad Mini but sold it pretty quick because it had shocking resolution.

Was going to buy the iPhone 6 Plus, but ridiculously long, so I bought the HTC M8, was going to buy the iPad Mini 3 but there aren't any changes so will probably go Sammy or similar.

I'm not an Apple sheep, I like to keep an open mind and keep my money in my pocket even though I can buy as much Apple as I want. They're just not everything to me.

I'd buy an iMac but they're ridiculously priced.

Usually just needs it for the install, takes up about 100mb or so when it's finished. At least thats how it worked out with mavericks.. And I've had that problem too. Accumilated about 9GB of 'other' on my 6 plus. Really annoying!!

Right, and 3D Animation is the only thing that people do, forget about Word Processing and Spreadsheets and numerous other tasks.

Interestingly, if you right-click on the install file in Applications and click Get Info, it says that the file was created on the 9th of October...

I've had the App store open all night, refreshed it, shut it down and all it flipping well done is install iTunes and a security update.

This can't be right, I have Public beta 6 on my mbp and the feedback assistant is there still, I am guessing we will have to wait longer before they push the incremental update to us.
