People are getting really excited about the issues as if they just paid a lot of money to join the beta. So I'm unsure why there is this much outrage.

I think it has to do more with the idea of doing something right. Regardless of if people paid or not, Apple promised a date that they would deliver on. If they cannot make that date, then take it down and inform everyone. What bothers me is that they find out as downloads start failing that something has gone wrong and even though they take it down after, they still aren't able to fix it.

If it were a new company, I'd understand as their systems might not have been properly put in place or tested. Provided that Apple has experience (and a lot of it in the server over demand department), they should be able to forecast better and prevent issues from happening. Let's face it, this isn't the first time this has happened.

How did registered beta testers receive codes, via email?

No email here, I looked at App Store updates without luck, and the Beta web page is down.

Because if you're gonna do an open public beta, you do an open public beta. This clearly was a broken process that has failed since they "opened" it. Have it work, or, don't have one at all.

It's pretty simple...

There is an outrage because Apple ran this through their hype machine and under delivered. Not to mention that the public beta page said that when you signed up for the beta, Apple would send you an email with you're activation code. But alas, no joy....

Yes. Keeps telling me they are updating and will be back soon. Been like this for a couple hours.

Yeah. They need to change that page to say instead:

We're too lazy to bother updating the site and won't be back any time soon.

website down

I've been completely unable to get onto the beta website for hours down.. anyone else have a smilier issue?

Well, I'm sure thats not true. But clearly their having some trouble on their end that they aren't putting enough resources into.

1st world problems. Get some perspective.

Yes, as you can read all over this thread... My guess is Apple is "closing" the beta code process for a little bit to let the servers catch up. Unfortunately, they botched todays process.

Waiting for the site to come alive again although I registered 3 days ago but I didn't receive the code via Email :apple::apple::apple::apple:

I went through all the pain too this morning. First mistake was trying to make it happen via a public WiFi. The download kept restarting.

I got home to the land of a fast and stable connection and file downloaded in 10-15 minutes and install was done in around 10 minutes.

Only thing not working is the Feedback Assistant. I did not activate the new iCloud either. I need working accounts on my iPhone and iPad.

I do like the new "flat" look of the UI for sure. Otherwise Yosemite looks a lot like Mavericks. Seems stable so far. Now to try some of the new features. I do like the idea of picking up phone calls on my MBRr.

Be patient folks. Once the initial hype is over, everyone will have a shot at this. I guess it's worth the wait.
