I think they said the beta was the same as DP4, but going forward will not get the same updates at the same time.

I think they said the beta was the same as DP4, but going forward will not get the same updates at the same time.
Thanks Dustin, I have DP4, but can't get hold of the public release yet. I might just stick with the DP for now
Well, been messing around for a bit on my newly upgraded 2009 27" i5 iMac 16GB and its all good so far. Not upgraded to iCloud drive as I have a lot of stuff in there I need to access from my Main system and iPhone/iPad but everything else works well. Office 2011 is on this mac and runs without issue as do the apps from the iWorks suite. Played a bit of World of Warcraft too 
As far as I can see the GUI rendering is much smoother on this mac than it was with mavericks. When resizing / scaling safari windows in Mavs it was a bit jerky but is buttery smooth on Yosemite. Mac Mail is working well with my 6 mail accounts.

Technically yes, but since the servers are so slammed right now the download may fail.
Public beta is one build newer (14A299I vs. 14A298I) but for all intents and purposes, the same
Did anyone else's Feedback Assistant disappear? It asked me if I wanted it to be a login item and I declined, and now the alias in my Application Utilities gives me an error...
Today best comment urging people that if your download fails. . . you're wrong lol.
Got Yosemite installing right now. Don't have anything on my Mac that's important so I don't care installing a beta on my main Mac.

Nope. I installed it on an external drive, and I had restarted. Several times now. It's just not stable enough for me yet, too buggy.
Apple could have learned a lesson from Microsoft on this
Given the hit or miss nature of downloading this beta, Apple should have paid attention to the professional beta-to-the-masses experts, Microsoft. MS has this down to a fine art. In the past 10 years, have never experienced the slow downs, stop and start downloads and the like from MS when betas are released. Granted, MS's OS is a bit quirkier than Apples OSX, none the less, the do pull it off better.

Downloading now on late 2012 Macbook Air. I didn't get an email but after logging into the Appleseed site, I was able to get a redemption code and download.
I was finally able to download going through apple.com to get to the beta page. I think i'm going to install it on an external HD instead of partition my mac. I have a 1TB brand new I was saving for my future imac that I can use in the meantime.
