Done.

Damn, I dropped to last in the draft order. Shouldnt we redo the draft order since we have moved people around :D

Don't forget to change you team name and stuff as the other player I believe had set some of that up already. Sorry about the draft order, but at least you don't have to get up at 4:00 AM now. :)

Still need steviem and The.316 to join up for the league to be complete.

Still waiting on steviem to join the league. Your the last one chap. Let me know if you didn't get an email invite. I've sent out another one just for good measure. ESPN won't lock in our draft until everyone in the league has officially joined, so please do so.

Thanks

Hooray, everyone has joined up meaning our draft time is locked in. Allright, the draft is set for this Sunday August 21st at 2:00PM Central Standard Time. Please be sure to sign in a few minutes early and if you know you can't be there then please set the auto draft order for yourself so the computer will try to get players that you have at least preselected.

The draft order is:

1. swiftaw
2. TwinCities Dan
3. The Californian
4. moyank24
5. steviem
6. mscriv
7. Jaffa Cake
8. miles01110
9. rdowns
10. ECUpirate44
11. MacNut
12. The.316

Happy drafting everybody, I'll see you there. :)

Awesome. I'm looking forward to being there. And it will give me something to do while I'm at work. ;)

iCal reminder set. 3pm ET.

My dear commissioner, we are on daylight savings time, not standard time. :p

I'll most likely be on the road during the draft, so please bear with the annoying time limit running when it's my turn - I have my auto-draft picks all prepared so be prepared for a surprise or two.

Draft is Today!

Allright everyone, here's your final reminder about the draft today at 2:00 PM US Central time. See you there. :)

All drafted then, and the lads are reporting in for their first training session – my only concern is that some of them seem to have have slacked on their fitness during the lockout and have piled on the pounds...

I like my team. I dont have that stud QB, but I think with Gonzalez, White, Jones, Turner, etc., Ryan could have a real good offensive year. I got the best WR in the game to go along with a couple of burners, who are #1s for their respective team. I was just torn between Mendenhall and McCoy, only because Ronnie Brown signed with the Eagles, which will take away from McCoy some, but Im counting on LeSean to have a big year. I also think the Fins are going to have one of the top defenses in the league, so I think I got a 2nd defense to go with Pitt.

What do you guys think of your team?

My squad as drafted...

Quarter Backs
Drew Brees
Kyle Orton

Running Backs
Jacquizz Rodgers
Daniel Thomas
LaDainian Tomlinson
Beanie Wells

Wide Receivers
Miles Austin
Larry Fitzgerald
James Jones
Santana Moss
Steve Smith
Roy Williams

Tight Ends
Vernon Davis
Chris Cooley

D/ST
Falcons

Kickers
Stephen Gostkowski

As I don't follow NFL closely, I'm very reliant on projections and the like rather than a personal knowledge of the players and teams, so I ranked the available talent accordingly and went from there.

Knowing that mscriv's custom scoring system favours Quarter Backs more than some other leagues, I made getting a good player in this position a priority and although Rodgers would have been my preferred pick I'm quite happy with Brees, with Orton providing back up.

At Wide Receiver I've got a couple of good players in Austin and Fitzgerald, and Moss and Smith are decent too.

I'm probably weaker at Running Back than I'd like to be, Beanie Wells is my main player here and will hopefully remain fit. I'd like to strengthen in this position particularly, so I'll be keeping a eye out for any suitable talent that may become available.

At Tight End I was very pleased to acquire the services of Vernon Davis – he's a good player and was also a bit of a talisman for my team last season, whenever he had a good game my team seemed to do so too. Cooley was very much a back-up pick – he's injured at present but should be okay when it comes around to Davis' bye week.

The Falcons wouldn't have been my first choice D/ST pick – that would have been the Steelers – but hopefully they should be able to do a job for me.

Oh, and I got a kicker or something as well. :p

At some point you will need another kicker and D when you have a bye week.

Indeed, my thinking there is to pluck something suitable from waivers when needed rather than using up my draft picks.
I will most likely drop players and pick some off waivers at some point in the season. I like having 2 D,s in the event that one starts to suck.

I think you chose Davis a few picks before me. I was hoping he would fall to me, or Finley at least, but Im happy with Daniels and Cook. They arent household names, but they are going to be their teams main TE, and Cook could become a real good TE in the game, whether he helps me this year or not.

I was very happy with Andre Johnson, since he is the league's best. I went with a lot of deep threats at wideout, and again, they arent household names, but Steve Johnson, Jacoby Ford, and Danario Alexander are going to be players.

Again, the only thing I wish I would have done different is choose Mendenhall over McCoy, but McCoy was a higher rated RB.

My team looks like so:

Likewise, I was all lined up to snaffle A.J. Green but you got in before me. ;)

In that round, I was torn between WR and RB, I went with the latter and sure enough the boy Green got snapped up by your good self. Johnson (A) was a good pick, had he been available I'd have happily taken him as my first WR.

Anyway, at least I have Big Vern again and I'm sure the 'Davis 85' shirts will once again be flying off the club shop shelves. :)

Don't forget about trades as another option to improve your team. Most people won't want to trade right away as opposed to seeing how their players do at the beginning of the season, but sometimes people will shuffle some players before the season starts. That being said, feel free to a propose trades either here in the thread or on the league site. As long as trades are of fair value then they will be allowed to go through. As commish I can always veto a trade if it's severely lopsided, so no funny business people. ;)

As the commissioner I want to say thanks to everyone who made the draft. We had 10 of 12 show and the two who couldn't make it had legit reasons to miss. Things moved smoothly and it looks like we're off to a good season with some solid teams in the mix. I appreciate everyone's willingness to be active participants. I've played with many of you before and had good experiences, but as you know it's only fun if we all stay active.

Here's to a good season. :)

Left my house at 8am PDT, just got to my destination - that is with a bunch of little kids and women that require frequent stops.

Bummed I didn't pick up Rodgers in the first round, but Foster did me good last year so I'm satisfied.
