Proxmity problems ?

After about a week of usage, it seems I'm better with the phone "naked".
As soon as i install the case, i run in to proximity sensor problems, but if i use my phone naked,I have no problems with the sensor what so ever.
Anyone having the same issue ?

Yes they will replace it free of charge.

I didn't even realize there was another version of this case! No wonder my silicone edges were leaving a bit of a gap that i've always noticed and hated but lived with. Im emailing otterbox to request a non-defective version of this really good case.

Where did you get that there was another version? The pictures on their site still look the same?

Honestly I want to love this case but I have a few gripes with it. First off I purchased two of the cases and they both do not fit right. Second the top plastic portion digs into your ear. Third the silicone picks up way to much lint. It seems ob rushed these cases out. Hope they get fixed.

I spoke with otter-box on Facebook and they said they did redesign the case to make it fit better along with a new camera cutout it seems. They also said colors are coming soon.

I've had this case for maybe a month or so....at first I really liked it, but slowly have gotten pretty annoyed with it. Like most are saying, the fit can be annoying...and with the silicone attracting lint all up through the case it can be a chore to clean it out. It's not bad by any means and hopefully the new "revision" will resolve some of these issues. I wish the rubber was more along the lines of a TPU though... Here's my review for this case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TORurJDogJ8

did you ask if we can get replacements? my silicone part near the home bottom is turning out really crappy. and i got their old version, not their new revision

Can you copy and paste your Facebook conversation here? I've been in email contact with Otterbox, and they are telling me that they have made no revisions or changes to the Commuter since it's release, even though their pics on the website appear to have a different camera and flash cutout.

has anyone called customer support ? my case does not fit right either, the top part is not flush with the rubber skin.

I love my commuter, but after a couple of months of usage, the power button is now very hard to depress, as it has "sunk" down into the body of the case. Ideas?

......I think people are getting their 'Commuter' cases muddled up with their 'Defender' cases here??!

How can you say the 'home button has sunk down into the case' when the Commuter case has absolutely NO silicone that covers the home button?

Are you meaning the 'Sleep/Wake button or are you genuinely meaning the 'Home' button (under the screen!) in which case you must be referring to the Otterbox Defender and NOT the Commuter!

Looks like to me he says "power" button, not home button. The power button is the same as the sleep/wake button, so it's obvious (at least to me) that he's talking about the button on top of the phone.

Yes, I am definitely talking about the commuter, and it's not the home button, but the power button on the top. It used to be raised above the rest of the top and now it is exactly even with the rest so I have to sort of shove a fingernail inside to depress the button to wake it up or put it into sleep mode.

What this with a new revision of this? If I order this one from a webshop is it probable that I will get the new revision? How long has it been out?
Is it better to order directly from Otterbox?

Echo that... because I have spoken with Otterbox Customer Support and they told me that while they have received some complaints concerning the flash, they have not redesigned the case at this time. I agree that the pictures on their site look different, so it may be just a company line.

And I can verify it, because in speaking with them I explained how I was annoyed by the "fit" of my case at the top and with how the bottom port protector doesn't seem to want to stay in, and how the flash is "flashing back" into the camera. So they sent me a replacement, and it's the exact same case. Of course, this could be their effort to get rid of the older cases.

If anyone wants proof of the "flashback" or flash bleed of this case, it's easy... download a flashlight app that uses the led flash, go in a dark room, and turn it on. You will see that the Apple logo "lights up". This is because the light from the flash is being "trapped" by the case. AND it means that when you are using it as a camera flash, it will "flash back" into the lens. That causes pictures using the flash to be kind of crummy.

Commuter saved by butt again today. Walking through a furniture store trying to buy some office chairs. Had my iPhone 4 in my hand because I had a photo on it of the chair my wife wanted. Stumbled and my phone slipped out of my hand an skittered across the tile floor.

Commuter has earned a permanent place on my phone. The rest of my collection will soon be for sale.

That case is awesome for protection. One time I was on the phone like the day after I got my commuter and my phone slipped out of my hand and bounced off the wall then bounced off a chair then hit the carpet, I was pissed but thankfully the commuter saved my phone, not a scratch on the case nor the phone.

Just to throw it out there, you know what I have noticed, Cases like the commuter and candyshell have fair amount of grip but also are very slippery compared to some other cases. For instance, ever since I have used only bumper style cases starting a few months ago, Hula, Apple bumper, Hybrid Ex, etc.. I haven't dropped my phone (knocks on wood). I'm thinking a lot of it is the grip from these bumpers compared to a case like the commuter, but also I think it has a lot to do with your mindset as well. Such as when you have a bumper style case on your phone, or me for instance, I am much much more careful with it compared to when I have the candyshell or commuter on my phone. I know its going to protect it if I dropped it or set it down somewhere and it falls, therefore, I take a chance with doing what I want with my phone because I know chances are it will NOT break nor scratch in anyway unless it hits pavement or rocks.

I agree that the Commuter is on the slippery side. I wish the hard shell portion had just a little more grip. I'm sure that Otterbox chose the current material for it's durability. After months of use it still looks like new. Definitely does not show scratches like the Speck Candyshell....which I have also owned.

I just got a Commuter for my Iphone 4, and I like it reasonably well. It seems to offer solid protection without adding TOO much to the bulk.

However, I am a bit annoyed that the edges of the hard part of the cover do not fit properly. Some of you have mentioned that it is possible to bend them by force to improve this. I have tried bending, but I don't see any difference. I used *some* force, but not that much as I am concerned with breaking the plastic.
Now, my question is to those of you who managed to make the hard part fit better: how much force did you need to apply to bend it?

Honestly, I used a lot and it didn't break or even act like it was going to break at all. I essentially folded the top and bottom in. It moves slightly, though unlike others, mine didn't actually make a crease or anything.

After putting it on, my top right was still a little higher up, so I took it off and flexed just that portion and tried again. Took me 4 tries overall but it eventually went on perfect. I have since removed and put the case back on several times without any issues.

Just received my new Blue/White Commuter (the new colors for the Commuter are available on the website now). I absolutely love this color combo! Glad they finally have some other inner silicone color besides black.
