Has anyone had a problem ordering the Otterbox Commuter (Iphone 4) directly from Otterbox?

Reason I ask this is because I still have not received mine nor did I get a tracking number. I placed my order the day the commuter was released for the Iphone 4 (Aug 18.). My credit card has been charged and I did recieve a cash sales receipt. I have emailed customer service and they keep assuring me that the warehouse will have it out shortly. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this sort of trouble because this is getting a little rediculous.

I was searching days for a case with transparent back(or at least Apple logo visible) and after leading lots of reviews, i decided to order this case, i just hope it doesn't add too much weight to the phone itself

i like the case, it adds some bulk but not that much

Got the case and wanted to let you guys know that it fits like a dream :) Zero wiggle and snaps perfectly in place...it's like the holster was made for the commuter.

Otterbox Commuter + Seidio Innocase Active Holster will be my winning combo until iPhone 5.

How easily does the phone come out of the holster? I'm looking for a holster for the commuter that came stand up to running. I hate wearing armbands and my defender and holster is a little too bulky for everyday use.

So I got my Commuter today. I have the Defender as well. I did notice that the plastic at the top sticks out and up a little bit. Almost as if my silicone is too thin. It also hooks on to my pocket because of this. The top is not flush like I have seen. Anyone else have this?

NEVERMIND... I didn't bother to read about the gaps. I guess this is a common issue.

Just got my commuter. Threw it on the pile with my iskin solo and "jacka type" Vaja copy from melkco. All in these three cases wil cost me as much as my vaja I am scheduled to get in 4weeks

Hate the commuter where the hard plastic meets the rubber. It is not well matched. Even after a multiple attempts. There is a burr or edge that will not set flush.

Nothing yet matches the presentation of the bumper.

Disappointed.

.....Noob here on macrumors so be gentle !:p

I've been reading through all these comments regarding this case and have to say, I think it is one of THE best cases for the iPhone 4!

I've previously owned the Commuter case for several other devices (Blackberry 9700 & Nokia N900 - the case for this one has to be the best case I have EVER seen for ANY device. PERIOD...!!) and IMO provides the best all round protection for the device.

I do agree that, as some posters have said, it does have a knack to installing it properly (I tried several times until I got a perfect fit) and also, I did find that there was a slight gap where the silicone meets the hard plastic on the left side rail (under the volume buttons) and would run all the way down the side of the plastic (parallel to the screen).

I tried several attempts at taking the whole thing off and re-installing but just could not get rid of the gap. It wasn't a large gap - literally 1mm but a gap nevertheless. Every-time I pulled the case out of my pocket, the gap would obviously be full of dust which kinda made me start to have negative thoughts about the case...!!

Then, I read somewhere about someone bending the case slightly - I basically separated the silicone from the hard plastic and applied pressure to the top half of the case until I managed to produce a slight bend in the plastic. I also did the same to the 2 side rails - applied slight pressure and bent them over (very gently as to not snap them!!) slightly.

Then, after re-installing the case again - voila - all gaps had vanished, which was obviously due to the extra tightness that I had created by bending the offending parts.......:D

Now - couldn't be happier with it.......;)

am i the only one who has a problem with the dock cover thing? mine works but its just sometime its hard to take off the dock cover so i can charge my iphone

just FYI, i bought one of these for 20$ shipped from amazon...thought i would give it a try.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the headphone jack when using this case? I can use standard Apple earphones, but larger plugs simply will not fit into the jack. The opening in the hard plastic is just too small. I cannot use it with my car's auxiliary port or my speaker system at home.

Have used a number of headphones with it including Apple, Sony and Shures and haven't had any issue with them fitting.

Is the case on properly? If it's a little loose or just off a bit on top, it might be enough for your problem.

Yeah, I've tried installing the case several times. It seems to be on properly. However, the camera slot in the back does not line up perfectly - I can see the left side of the metal band around the lens. This doesn't seem to interfere with the camera, but the flash seems to be affected a bit.

As for headphones, most of them seem to work fine, as they have a skinnier plug. However, thicker plugs, such as the one seen below, do not fit all the way in. The opening on the case is just too small.

just got my commuter from the amazon link above....again, couldnt resist 20$ shipped.

You do need to play with the hard shell alittle if you want a really snug fit. When i took it straight out of the box, the hard shell was slight pointing outwards (top and bottom, sides were straight up). I thought i would install it first and see if its just alittle give there so the soft silicon doesnt bunch up. That was not the case. It was kinda lifted off the silicon in the front (top and bottom). I removed the shell, bent the top, bottom and sides inwards and reinstalled.

FITS PEFERCTLY...100%...no bunching anywhere...the plugs are easily removed when needed. This case is BRILLIANT.

PS, dunno why anyone had problems installing this case. Top in first, bottom after, then just push the sides till it pops in, no more than 10s for me. I guess i have nimble fingers.

FIRST DAY....the otterbox saves my phone from certain destruction.

I was at work, had it on my on some plates when someone grabbed it...it fell from about head height onto solid tile floor....i thought it broke when it hit the ground. I picked it up, looked over it, not a scratch...not even a dent on the case itself. I took it out of the case, phone is perfect....no problem at all.

LOVE YOU OTTERBOX!!

Question about the plastic shell: is it slippery or does it have some grip? I had the incipio silicrylic, but I got rid of it because the plastic shell was so slippery that I was always afraid that it was going to slip out of my hand.

The plastic shell has a nice texture to it, plenty of grip for me.

Does anyone know of any UK high street stores that stock otterbox cases? Best online price I could find was £17.99 on amazon, but would ideally like to see it in the "flesh" prior to purchasing.

Thanks.

ah man my silicone part (where the home button is) is really loose. you think otterbox will send me a replacement or something? also they have a new camera cut out (mine is the old version)
