Otterbox Commuter Case - iPhone 4

Am I correct in reading the description as it's going to have a screen protector you have to apply with adhesive? (rather than the defender where it's built into the case itself, no adhesive involved?).

I was really hoping this case was going to be a less insanely massive version of the defender, ie full-body protection without adhesive but without the clip and less bulky overall... but if this is yet another back/sides only case that adds a glue-on screen protector I'm gonna have to keep looking

Not sure what you're looking for here. If you want a integrated screen protector you're going to get some more bulk - aka Ballistic case or Otterbox Defender.

The commuter is the happy-medium case for those of us that don't work on roof tops, farms, dusty environments, swamps, etc.

Not at all... I had a Griffin Wave for the iphone 3G... non-adhesive screen protector that was held in place by the frame of the case, and it was not bulky at all...

THAT is exactly what I'm looking for...a hard case with a non-adhesive screen protector that isn't bulky.

But nobody seems to make one for the iphone 4

Waiting. Defender is too thick. I need something that won't look like a book in my pocket, yet provides adequate drop protection.

I'm waiting on this case, too, for the same reason. I ride horses and do a lot of farm work, so I need something that offers solid drop protection. But I also need something that covers the ports, which is one thing this case offers over many others the same size. It doesn't have to be waterproof, but not having to pick crud out of the ports would be nice. I don't want to have to switch cases every time I do something, and the Defender is too bulky for my tastes. The Commuter case looks like it provides that kind of balance between overkill and protection. The adhesive screen protector doesn't bother me if it's quality. If not, I'll order the powercrystal ones.

Right now I'm using a case-mate Vroom with their crappy screen protector. After many attempts, I finally got the screen protector down well enough that it's not a distraction. The case itself isn't bad, but it doesn't fit very snug and the silicone is a lint-magnet. But overall, it's better than nothing and has made the phone more comfortable. I bought it mainly for drop protection, as I was not experiencing the signal issue.

BTW, the other Otter case (Impact Series) still looks like a render... or someone flipped an image.... or it's a "European" iPhone. lol! All of the images show the volume buttons on the RIGHT side of the phone... but the apps are in the normal/default order.

No adhesive. Just put the phone in the hard plastic inner shell and then the rubber outer shell fits over. The screen, iphone emblem, and cameras are all covered for protection within the inner shell. It doesn't feel bulky at all.

The Amazon.com $32.06 (+free shipping) is still on the tabled, but I'm thinking with that Otterbox.com coupon code, if it stll works when the commuter is released for sale, is probably a better deal.

It should work, the commuter case comes with an otterbox screen protector; just don't use their screen protector and keep your invisible shield on.

It should work just fine. The Commuter will include its own film - just don't use it and keep what you have.

Me, too... I still had the link open at home, so I was able to order at the $27 price w/free shipping. The email I got quoted that it would ship between August 5th and 7th. If I don't like it, I'll just use the Speck Pixelskin HD that Apple is giving me.

they won't... otterbox can't only release the defender. plus, beach is still expecting the shipment on august 3rd. my guess is that amazon, as weird as it would be, wasn't able to get in on the first shipment
