what's the difference between this and the defender beside the screen protector? I love my Defender, I'm just curious aha.

Otterbox Commuter Case - iPhone 4

Should be a little less bulky and have a silicone inner and hard shell outer. Also won't have protection over the screen (will have a small lip for face down protection though).
The commuter has been my fav case of all time. I hope OB has come up with a good design which I'm sure they have.
Search "iphone 4 commuter" on Ebay. A seller has more than 10 in stock ready to ship. Just ordered one!!
Yeah i saw that. Let us know if it actually ships out tomorrow or not. No one else seems to have it yet. Even otterbox is saying 10-14 days to ship.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing but they had 100% feedback with a lot of ratings. We will see!
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one today.
I want a case that provides drop protection.
FYI, the website states it comes with a self adhering screen protector:

Yep... they sound the same.
Oh yeah, it does include a screen protector that's great quality too. I used one on my bold for 6 mths and it never pealed up once. Their pretty thick.
I promise you won't be disappointed with Otterbox. Their cases are top notch. Especially if you want great protection with minimal bulk.
My Commuter shipped this morning from Otterbox! Nice. Looks like the very early orders from yesterday (I ordered about 5 minutes after they went live with ordering) will be shipping immediately. Just a heads up to all of you who ordered yesterday.
Anyone heard from Beach Camera or Amazon.com?
Nothing from Amazon. Order status still shows 8/31-9/1. Probably won't update until it gets prepared for shipment - whenever that is.

I ordered from them through Amazon nearly a month ago at a price of $27. A couple of people here indicated that Beach had cancelled their order, but not mine. No, I got two "backordered" emails, but never cancelled.
When this case was released yesterday, I heard nothing from Beach. Nada. But I thought "my order has not been cancelled, so maybe they're just confirming their shipping". I was willing to sacrafice a few days on the order for the $5 price difference.
Well, guess what? After lord knows how many other people placed an order yesterday and today, Beach CANCELLED MY ORDER at 3:30pm this afternoon!!
SO not cool... they should be dropped as a supplier.
I've placed my order through Otterbox directly now using the coupon code (which still works) for free shipping and 10% off. But who knows when I'll get the d@mn case at this point.

commuter flash cut out
Does this image concern anyone? Look how deep the cut-out around the flash is.
Surely this effects the spread of the flash... I definately would have to see some tests comparing flash photography with/without the case. If it has no effect I would definately get this case it looks fantastic.
Not sure why they chose to have such small cut-outs, why not just have one larger one like most other cases (shown dotted below)
Right, on second thoughts, Otterbox have spent more time on these series of cases than most other manufacturers. Surely they have done extensive testing on every aspect of the case including flash quality. I would just quite like to see the evidence of it.
Am getting the iphone 4 soon and i'd like to have a case waiting for it, have been waiting for a review of this for ages and it's by far the best looking case for the iphone 4 i've seen to date
