Otterbox Commuter Case - iPhone 4

I realize this won't offer the same protection as the defender but for those who had past experience with the Commuter series or those who have received their iPhone 4 one; Can I expect it to protect the phone from basic drops like around 4 feet or less?

I just placed an order today hoping it arrives before my iPhone 4. Decided Defender would just be to bulky for my needs.

Got my FedEx tracking tonight... says to expect it on the 25th. Maybe if I'm lucky it'll get here faster than that! :cool:

I ordered mine on 18th, got tracking number on 19th, delivered on 20th. So good luck! It's a very well made case (except for screen protector).
 
I ordered mine off of Amazon.com two days ago and got a tracking number update and its one its way. As of now it looks like I should have it by the 27th which isn't bad considering I only had to pay $23.
 
Just got my Commuter this morning via Priority Mail. I have been using the Case-Mate Tough Case. I really liked the Tough but it had a few issues that bothered me. First of all the lip was too wide and interfered with typing. Next the lip on the bottom was a bit loose. Overall it is a great case. The Commuter solves both of those issues. The lip is loose on the sides though and the Tough was not. I do like that the Commuter has the headphone and 30pin covered. I really like the cutout on the back to show the Apple logo. I have a BSE on the back and the protection is not an issue. The only real thing I miss about the Tough is the feel in my hand. The texture of the Tough case is really nice. Best way to explain it is a textured, ridged, marshmallowy feel. I probably wont be returning to the Tough for a while anyway. Something about having an OB on my phone makes me feel safer.

Shouldn't there be a name of the person who signed for you on the FedEx tracking website?

nevermind. my fedex was being really lame. it said "

Left at front door. Signature Service not requested. 12:56PM"

i called fedex people to send someone over to see if it really came. right when i was giving out my phone number i heard a door bell, told them hang on i think it is the package. then it was. the lady on the phone was like "what the... it says here the package got delivered at 12:56PM and it is 2:28PM right now this is weird, sorry about that"
 
Mine is coming early next week. Very psyched, this case looks to be exactly what I was looking for. :cool:
 
I just put my commuter case on and I love everything about it except for the screen protector. I was happy with the screen protector on my 3gs from the capsule rebel but this one just doesn't seem very quality. Are any of you buying alternative screen protectors or do you think that with this case it would be ok to just not use a screen protector?
 
those who have commuter for i4, can we see some pictures? or maybe a more comprehensive video than what's out there?

I saw the ones on iLounge and youtube already, but more!!!
 
Just got mine this morning and I love it. I left my InvisibleShield on the back for now, but it seems alright. I do agree with the person earlier who mentioned the top left of the hard shell - it doesn't quite sit flush. But that's a minor thing, really.
 
I have both the Defender and Commuter at the moment. And I must say that I prefer the defender, it does what it says on the tin. But it also doubles the thickness of the iPhone.

The commuter is a great protective case, although it doesn't do as much for the front of the iPhone as does the defender. It's easily the best silicone/rubber case I've laid my hands on and the matte finish is great.

I really should pull my finger out and take some pictures of it!

I just got it in the mail this morning, after ordering late friday, I got it Monday!
Im in Canada and have never got an order as fast as otterbox sent it, door to door.

About the case, It is great, I cant think of a complaint. Takes an attempt or two to make sure the outer shell is flush, I was worried that with a headphone jack cover, and a port cover it would be bulky, but thats not the case at all, and the headphone cover has a great recessed groove to get your finger in there to pull it out when needed.

Screen protector included is useless, but I have a zagg on it so it's not a big deal

Overall a very clean, well made case, and I was really impressed with otterbox's speed in delivery.
