Otterbox Defender 4S Delays :(

I got mine today, I ordered Oct 17th but there's a problem
I just got the Defender Case for the iPhone 4S, everything fits well but the rubber piece for the mute switch won't stick to the plastic hard shell.
When the rubber piece covers the mute switch, it doesn't go all the way down. One side will be sticking out and the side that places the hard shell and the rubber case together has a gap/bump on it

Just got mine in the mail, although there is a tiny bump near the switch, it is nothing like yours. The screen protector doesn't feel like it lays completely flat like my previous version, it isn't bad, still usable (I took 3 nintendo ds's back before because they had a slight dimple effect on the touch screen) so I don't think it's that bad.
Also I had a slight defect on the outer case. I called up otterbox and they quickly put a replacement outer case order in for me.
Other than that everything looks good
My status still hasn't changed. its been 2 weeks. I tried to cancel my order they told me it was to late and discounted it even more because of that. But now I am thinking it will never come.
They gave me a USPS number even though I chose Fedex when I orders. anyone else have that?

went back to look at the number and this is what I got today. 2 weeks after I ordered it they told me it was shipped a week ago. This is the first time the number has actually said anything. I have just been expecting it to show up randomly in the mail. With now luck at all. What is wrong with them. Now I probably have to wait another week to get it. This is also after I was told they couldn't send me a second belt chip holder.

You're right, Fedex smartpost is the problem. Ordered on the 8th. It shipped from Denver on the 14th to Kent Washington 22th. That is crazy I could have walked that in faster time(that's a joke) I get packages from Illinois through USPS in 2 days. The smart post was the more expensive shipping option, wasn't it? I just hope it is here on Monday. Nothing should ever take that long.
I was just in my local AT&T store and every single Otterbox Defender had that "defect" as well as the one on the bottom of the belt clip.
It is the place where they separate the pieces from the molds and I wonder if they aren't breaking away as smoothly due to production being rushed to keep up with demand.
Not good then. That along with the slight dimple effect I am getting with the screen makes it seem like this new model is not as good as the last.
Just got off the phone with Otterbox. I ordered a Gunmetal Grey/Green Envy Defender the morning of October 7. My only communication from them since my order has been the canned "we're busy" email they sent on 10/13.
When I visit the site now I see that they have some colors in stock, but not the color I ordered. I asked the phone gal if they ever had that color in stock, and she insists they did but sold all of them. Right. There were so many orders before mine the morning the phone went on sale for preorder that they sold out before I got mine. Don't insult me, lady.
Anyway, the only options I was offered were to change the color, cancel the order, or upgrade to expedited shipping. She said they expected the Grey/Green cases in next week (the week of 10/31).
Otterbox cases are great. Otterbox's deceptive sales technique and poor communication are disappointing and will probably have me looking for other options.

My commuter is out for delivery this morning. So, it's coming via USPS and not FedEx? I'm hoping it doesn't have any defects like so many others do :/
I ordered my Commuter from Otterbox the day before the phone went on sale for preorder. I'm sure many that ordered the Defender did the same thing or even earlier.

Bought the Defender locally from the ATT store. Frankly I'm not that impressed, particularly with how terrible the screen feels now. I'll hold out for a couple weeks though, maybe I'll come around.

I bought a regular otterbox defender and it fits my iPhone 4S fine. Only beef I have is I was hoping it would cover all the white on my phone in case I wanted to make it black and not see any white, but it leaves an outline around the screen which is very distracting. Maybe the 4S version fixes this.
My wife's Teal Defender 4S (which came today) doesn't. But I kind of like that bit of rim around the screen.
Just out of curiosity, if you wanted to only see black, why the heck did you buy a white iPhone?
Still waiting for my gray/white Defender 4S. Hasn't shipped yet. The last email I saw said they should be ready to ship tomorrow. I guess we'll see.

Because I like the way the naked white iPhone looks, but prefer black sometimes. The otterbox on my 3GS covered the whole phone so I kind of figured this ottebox would do the same.
I do regret getting the white.
Yeah regarding the manuf. imperfections, you can tell that the cuts to the material are not good at all. I mean, it's a $50 case at retail; this is not normal.
Also the 3.5mm port hole doesn't even line up correctly. I don't have time this week to go back, but this is pretty laughable. And I definitely have the 4S case b/c of the wider camera area, I know that. Anyway, if you do get this, buy retail so you can easily exchange/return.

I agree, I expect the finish to be better on a case this expensive.

I have the EXACT same mark in the EXACT same spot on my Black Defense case.
It must be a molding "scar" that they cut away after they pull the rubber our of the mold when it dries.
*raises hand* Just got my shipping notice/credit card charge receipt this evening, although the tracking number is not showing any info yet. Came within an hour of my asking them on Twitter what the status of the Glaciers was (they told me to email customer service).
Hope you get yours soon! My wife getting her teal one has made it even harder to wait.
