Enjoy your inferior graphics, pleb.

Personally, I'm annoyed the only non-retina system is the 13". Now there isn't a single Macbook worth getting that isn't either form over function or overpriced and lacking raw CPU power without paying even more regardless of GPU improvements (That mean NOTHING to audio work).

If they just offered a 15" non-glossy screen 2.6Ghz Quad i7 with a 1680x1050 native resolution for £1,500 there'd be something in the range worth having seeing as a 17" is out of the question these days.

Improved graphics do nothing to help the obvious flaw these new models have no matter how much bragging rights people think they have for owning one over the older models.

Well, I'll be a contrarian and say I haven't had *any* problems with Mavericks, and have been running it as a developer since what, July? NO trackpad freezes, no keyboard freezes, completely trouble free.

Late 2011 15" MacBook Pro.

This is why it's hard to track down these types of issues, as they *aren't* universal :/

I bet this is Mavericks, after the mess iOS7 was at launch I was not and still have not upgraded to Mavericks, I'll wait for a patch or two first. Apple haven't got a strong track record with it's software of late.

As for enjoying your graphics? It's a Mac, it doesn't perform as well as a Windows machine with games. So how do you feel about your graphics now?

I purchased the 15" - so hopefully no lockups for me.
Have no interest in using Bootcamp since I have my work laptop running Windows.

people are so emo. this is obviously software issue (happening to older macs with the new 10.9), and will be fixed. sigh.

These things never happened when Steve was CEO... just saying.

I think Tim is leading the corporation in the wrong direction when he approves all these unifinished products (iPad mini, iPad 3, MBPr 13", 5C and now this).

Seriously?

You seem to have a very short memory of the software and hardware failures while Steve was at the helm.

Up until Steve died...

Way, way too many Apple mistakes, and huge ones at that.

Input lockup? iOS 7?

Are you serious (Seriously, don't know... no /sarc or emoticon to denote).

If not, these glitches are nothing new, and, yes, happened all the time when Steve was CEO. iMac screen "tearing", MBPs that randomly shut down when on battery power, water cooled MPs leaking, OS X 10.5.0, Antennagate., etc., etc. It seems some people have very short memories.

I'm not a huge TC fan but I think your criticism on these points is off and uncalled for.

I was torn between the 13" and 15". Chose the 13" with 16GB for portability, instead of the 15" with screen size and power. Order is being prepared now.

Wonder how widespread the problem is and if I should cancel the order and go for the base 15" instead.

This is an old problem, there's at least one long support thread about it.

My 2011 MBA locks up the same way sometimes, it's related to playing flash videos after hibernation. Not a hardware error, it's too deterministic and widespread.

Apple doesn't seem to care.
Lots of that. Here is an example of Apple releasing bad drivers(not a hardware issue because you can downgrade and get perfect performance) for an entire line of iMacs.

These iMacs have been busted since 10.6.4 and Apple doesn't give a ish.

All these problems where fixed instantly, that's why everyone allready has forgotten them

It's been over a week with these new problems and they are not yet solved, this is not acceptable behavior from a company of Apples caliber and Cook should be held responsible.

Only just noticed they removed the dedicated graphics card from the base 15" retina... possibly something to do with that? I have had a read and it seems to affect all 13" retinas and a few 15" - possibly the ones without dedicated graphics?

No idea how it would be the lack of graphics card, but these weird things do happen.

No, no they were not. iMac and MBP owners were complaining for months on the Apple forums before Apple issued a fix. Personally, I owned one of the MBPs that randomly shut down. It took Apple about 6 months before they offered a battery replacement.

And a lot of the issues like the MB case cracking required a class action suit before Apple even offered to repair.

I've owned Apple products since 1988. Since about the early 90s (before Jobs return) Apple has hardly been speedy when it comes to fixing glitches -- though they do get done.

I have a 13" rMBP I just got on Friday and the keyboard/trackpad have frozen up 3 times since then. Mine is the mid level 8/256/2.4ghz.

Has anyone tried pressing the power button briefly to suspend, then again to resume? I had a freeze while playing with an rMBP 13" in an Apple store.. left the machine sitting for ~10 minutes where it was unresponsive to mouse/keyboard events, but a suspend+resume brought it back- no hard reset.

Two words people: Mercury Retrograde. It's a terrible time to buy anything let alone an expensive MBP. I'm not ordering my new MBP w/Retina until mid November.

I bought the mid-range 13" Haswell rMBP on Thursday night and since then I've had the keyboard/trackpad freeze 3 times (the system itself seems to be working fine). On all 3 occasions, I was just surfing the web (not playing Flash) as usual. The first 2 times, I did a hard reset, but on the third occasion, I tried closing the lid (putting it to sleep) and waiting ~5min. When I woke the computer up again, the keyboard/trackpad were working again.
