So, is the cover held in place by the magnets? Also, you said you ordered a y+ (one of the plain colors) Did you get that in yet? If so, how does it look? I plan on ordering from the same place, but didn't want to unless they worked. I had emailed them, and asked if they could check the case before sending it, and all the reply said was it isn't in stock, and it would be a week to two weeks before it would ship. (this is the y+ in all white). Just trying to figure out if this is a problem they have fixed yet, or if I need to hold off for a while.

Hi, not sure where I mentioned purchasing a plain colour - I know there was a previous poster that did but it wasn't me as I only have the Y+.

As for the problem, I would suggest contacting them again (if you haven't already) and be very specific about what problem it is that you're inquiring about. The initial issue that came up when these cases were first launched seem to mainly be around the sleep/wake function not working and not to do with the side magnets not being strong enough to keep the cover closed when held upside down. My inquiry had to do with the sleep/wake function as well and not the latter.

I noticed my case has the same problem with the sides when held upside down but it doesn't bother me as I can't really think of many instances where I'll need to do that. At all other angles, it's nicely shut so no complaints here. Good luck.

Point is that the cover does not hold tight in place. So when I walk with it, or simply handle it, I can hear the iPad switching ON and OFF frequently. I don't get that with the original iPad Smart cover. I guess when the iPad is in my rucksack the same happens.

It's not possible for it to come on and off walking about with it if you hold it like a notebook to your side holding the 2 flaps together. If you held it from the other direction yes I can see that happening. Also, It's not something that will easily come on and off as long as you have something against the upper flap (per my last note) since that's what actually triggers the sleep/wake mode from what I see. I don't see this as a deal breaker for the case either.

I understand (understood) the point being made and the one I was making is that it doesn't bother me. And perhaps I've not had mine for a long enough period but I've certainly not had problems with it switching on and off and I carry my iPad in all sorts of bags (e.g., various purses, messenger bags, etc.). If I had that happening, I would have returned it straightaway.

I guess when I hold it were it opens it should be OK. Holding it at the hinge will trigger the problem.

For the meantime I will work on my iron-sheet-solution and will improve it with black tape to have it less visible.

If I could get hold of an e-magnet I would try to re-pole the side magnets.

I don't see this as a deal breaker for the case either.

That's the dilemma! If it were a deal breaker I would just return it. But it's still the case I very much want.

For optical reasons I changed the transparent scotch tape now to shiny black electrical insulation tape. The hold is now about the same as the Apple Smart Cover. The tape is not in the visual LCD area and bothers me less then the constant ON/OFF switching.

For potential imitators: I used tinning sheets. Make sure the material is really magnetic! Thickness is 0.20mm. Since the material is not 100% rust proof, and as a scratch protection I put some ultra thin wrapping film under it, and then the insulation tape on top. Gladly I have a metal sheet shear next door. Otherwise it's difficult to keep the material flat while cutting.

I found the black Y on eBay pretty cheap ($33 shipped). Almost seems like a price mistake since most dealers are $50-$80 (Amazon) for the same thing and his other Ozaki pricing is "normal." Also seems most of his "negative feedback" is for "selling items not in stock." I figured worse case (no pun intended) I have eBay and PayPal behind me and best case (ditto) it's a decent deal.

Edited: Was a "Y" not a "Y+"

Hmm... I think I might do the same. I was looking for one in white, but at more then $20 off I might not be able to pass it up. It does look like a mistake on his part though, as he even has other black ones of the same item listed for sale at the $57.

But per Ebay rules even if he made a mistake he would need to ship it to you. If not, then he needs to refund the money, and you can leave him negative feedback.

Thanks, you are correct. I edited my post. Actually I didn't want the stylus and hopefully (assuming I get it) it doesn't have the cutout for it either. :) Same seller sells it for $80 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Ozaki-IC501BK-BK-iCoat-Slim-Y/dp/B007MZUN5S

If it is a legit mistake you do NOT have to ship it. There is no rule that says you do. If the mistake were legit I wouldn't leave negative feedback anyway. Unless a seller was a blatant scammer I wouldn't leave negative feedback. In 13+ years on eBay I have left one "neg" and maybe 2 or 3 "neutral."

Anyway, looks like it's a Y and not a Y+ which is fine with me anyway. No need for a stylus.

Just a note, the 'Y' still comes with a stylus holder which you may, or may not attach to the case.

Great little tip, thanks for letting the rest of us know. I guess it's something to consider if that really bugs my wife. So far she's loving the case, and I can see why. I'm waiting for my black Y++ myself heh. It really seems to be the best compromise amongst all the options I've seen....certainly more stable and useful than the folio cases and also includes all the smart cover options.

Still waiting for release from Onguard

I got tired of waiting so I emailed Onguard to see when they will release the Triangus case for the new iPad. The response I got was that they are still working on perfecting the new model. From the email, I got the sense that they are having similar issues as Ozaki, problems with sleep/awake function and cover not keeping closed. The MSRP price they quoted me was $64, no stylus pen but they include a screen protector. That seems pretty reasonable. When I looked at their FB for release of Triangus case, I did notice a new line of cell phone cases and they look pretty good. They are running a contest so I entered. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=514502487#!/pages/ONGUARD-by-K2W/160718571246
If they pick my entry, I will post again to ask you all to help me win! haha.

Got this today. Not really crazy about it because of the "bump" for the stylus that does not come with it so the cover folded back doesn't lie flat + the back "flops" from where it folds into a stand on one side when it is folded over but for $33 it will do for a while. It's definitely NOT leather (the y+ may be but this isn't).

That being said, 5 days from order to delivery (CA->NJ) including a weekend. Price was better then 1/2 less than most other sellers ($80 on Amazon) and and over $50 most everywhere else.

Here is an update from the Factory about the holding force:

We received Factory reply they said that the magnetic design is not for hold on the LCD, is design for Multi-angle stand. And the magnetic force lower
than Apple magnetic because they used a thickness and different material, so
it can not compare with apple smart cover.

this case looks awesome if it weren't for the problem mentioned in the last few posts. If they fix it I may pick one up.. Debating between this and the joy smartsuit3 but I like the colors and portrait mode for the Ozaki better.

I have a 1 week old black "Y" (not Y+, the + has the stylus) if you are interested relatively "cheap." Doesn't come with a stylus but I will include one. PM me if interested.

Don't buy from igearguys

Hi, I created this account just to say that igearguys.com is a big scam. I've never heard of igearguys before, but people in this thread said they got their covers from them and ordered a couple of OZAKI iCoat Slim-Y+ covers for the new ipad from these guys three days ago. I checked before I buy, and the items were in stock. They even show their current stock: "65". I e-mailed them today asking why my covers weren't shipped yet (Order Status: Awaiting Shipment). I was told the items were backordered and they'd be available on April 30th. I payed by paypal, will contact them to get my money back!

Buy from igearguys.com!

Just thought I'd balance it out. I ordered a Slim Y+ from them and got it in one week. Didn't like the flapping around and asked them for a refund. They credited me back the same day and will send me a shipping label to return the item (i.e., free return).

Well, it says order shipped; but no tracking number... Did you receive a tracking number when you ordered your cover from igearguys??

I did, but it was the wrong number. They sent a USPS number, but it was shipped FedEx (at least the packaging was FedEx).

Has anyone tried the y++ does that have the magnet problem too?

I guess it's the same. Remember what the factory said:

Factory reply they said that the magnetic design is not for hold on the LCD, is design for Multi-angle stand.

But the error in their logic is, if the cover does not hold on the LCD then there should be no magnets in the 'switch on' area of the iPad to prevent the auto on function.

That unfortunate, this is my dream case in every other regard. Maybe I can overlook it I don't use the smart over feature anyway. Hmmm

That unfortunate, this is my dream case in every other regard.

Unfortunately same here. With the 'metal plate fix' I did it works EXACTLY as wanted.

However, one small point... first I thought my try with the extreme low quality transparent scotch (It wasn't 3M/Scotch, was some cheap stuff) tape would leave a mess on the LCD. But no! The glass seem to be very anti-dirt and the tape does not stick to it very well. So after I changed to the black tape it's the same. It sticks, sort of, but it can move around a little. Maybe I need to make it round the edges...

BTW, the iPad has 2 magnetic N in the left corner (between corner and home switch) - were the cover has N too (N & N doesn't attract). The opposite iPad corner has nearly no magnetic force.

I am thinking of changing the polarity of the Ozaki un-Smart Cover in the corners.

Gah what were they thinking? Do you think it would be easy to change the polarity or would it essentially destroy the case or leave visible scars? Do you think it's better to pass on this and wait for the triangus (although I hate the camera cutout on that one)? Thanks.

And are they serious? 94.99?! haha http://www.amazon.com/Ozaki-IC504BK...HEG4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334972694&sr=8-2
